OK I am going to do a product test on my truck, Zaino. I have already washed it with Dawn and clayed. My paint does have swirls. Should I use 3M Swirl Remover to get rid of the swirls or should I just do Z-1 then Z-5? Will that get rid of all the swirls? The swirls aren’t to bad also. The products I have are Z-1, Z-2 and Z-5 and that ZFX.

I am in the middle of doing this so the faster you can help the better. Thanks.

Use a 3M or Meguiars swirl remover :read: Get rid of as many of the scratches as you can before Zaino-ing  :D

I use the 3m to get rid of the swirls...zaino has a swirl remover but it works over time with coats.

If you really want it to look good get some 3000 grit sandpaper and DA and colors and and buff your truck. Make sure you use a foam pad and not a wool pad to elimate swirls from buffing. We do this all the tiem at my body shop to remove scratches and swirls. Finish off with 3M Swirl Remover and then wash and Zaino your truck. THis will yield the best finish. I have done this to several cars taht we have painted adn it makes the paint look magnificent.

Can you do the 3m swirl remover by hand? My '97 chevy isn't in too bad of shape, but it probably needs the 3m before zaino.

What do most of you use for the wax and swirl remover? Just white towels? According to zaino's site, I need to get the more expensive cotton towels. What brand/type is good to get?

Does it need to be washed again with Dawn after using the 3m or do you go straight to the Z1/Z5?

Also, how often should you re-wax? How much of the wax gets washed off at the car wash?

This is my first attempt at waxing, so I'm trying to do it right the first time.
