I recently purchased a flowmaster deltaflow 40 series from a shop here in town but was unable to have them put it on because the exhaust guy was going on vacation so I took it to another shop here in town. The guy working there told me that the flowmaster 40 series was made mainly for 02'+ mustangs and that it would decrease the performance of my truck. I ended up getting a mellowtone xps 1 in 2 out instead. Would the flowmaster of been a better pick?

As long as you got the right part #....i.e. the one for your truck, then you're fine.
Ask MacADaYear, hes got a 40 series, and I have a 50 series Flowmaster...sounds bad a$$
Even if I did lose power which I doubt, it was such a little amount that you can't even tell :whatever:

the 50series is made for suvs/trucks w/ high torque numbers in mind.

the 40 is made for top end power w/ some low end power loss.

either way you would have gone, it would have been a great improvement over stock. to be honest, you may have lost a slight amount of low end grunt from a 40, but your mpg and hp gains would have made up for it.

Another thing I noticed when I switched out mufflers was that the computer took a few days to recognize the change and thus make the truck feel more poweful:devil:

At the top of 2nd and 3rd it used to loose some grunt, but now it pulls strong up to the 5600 stock cut off. I also gained alot of low end pull off the line.

Can't wait to get this badboy to the track to see what kind of numbers it will pull:cool:
