Digital Dreams Contest is back!!

OK, guys... due to popular demand, I figured I'd see if I can make this happen and keep it going.

OBJECTIVE -- take the picture that I am about to give you the link to, edit it with your favorite image software, send your work back to me, I'll put all the entries up and then we'll vote to see whose work is best.

Here are the rules:

Contest is only open to registered FSC members. Staff members may compete.

Entries must be in JPEG format (.jpg extension)

Image size no larger than 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels tall

File size no larger than 120 kilobytes.

Keep in mind that this is a FSC related contest -- entries must not contain nudity, vulgarity or references to drugs or other illegal activities.

Entries must be received by 12:00 AM PST Sunday, July 13th.

Only one entry per person per contest.

Include your FSC username in the subject line of the email carrying your entry.


Entries should be sent to my email address at fscdigitaldreams@yahoo.com

I'm going to try offer as much variety as I can while keeping the pics FSC's. Every now and then I may throw in something different to keep it from getting extremely repetitive, but it will most likely still be from the GM family.

He is pretty good, but that's no need to discourage anyone. It's not that often that new photoshop users get a chance to work with a hi res pic that is uncluttered and decently lit. That right there actually makes the work easier to do, so hopefully even the rookies who just started using PS this morning will even give it a shot. Right now, it's just for fun and notariety.

Hey guys... I'm a bit concerned here... This is the first account I've used on imagestation, so I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is the same thing that you guys can see.

After you enter the album, there is a thumbnail pic that measures 450 wide x 270 tall, file size is approx 25k. THIS IS NOT THE PIC YOU SHOULD BE USING. Click on the picture, and you should be able to get the original -- 2200 pixels wide by 1320 tall, file size is approximately 500kb. EDIT THIS ONE. This way you're not zooming in so far that you lose quality as you edit.

One of you, please respond to this message to confirm that you can access this larger file.

When you're done with the edit, (presuming you're using photoshop) save the PSD file, resize and/or crop the picture to get it down to 800 x 600. Then after you do a "save as" to JPEG format, set the format options to Progressive, Scans to 5, and then adjust your quality on the scale of 1 to 12 to get the file size within the 120kb limit.

If you have already submitted an entry and you realized that you used the thumbnail instead of the main pic, go ahead and resubmit. You still have plenty of time. I'm just posting this so that the playing field is more even.



Considering the popularity, I think I'll be setting up a new contest about once a month.

LOL!I'm glad you think I'm good.I just wish I was THAT good.I'm just gonna try my best,and see where it takes me.

Also,it would be better to use the "save for web" feature,as it allows you to keep a higher resolution while getting it down to the size needed to submit it.

As for me:
I am almost done with mine. I didnt do any "major" chopping, because I wanted it to still look "realistic". And not some futurama space lookin thing:D

Hey guys... let's hold off on posting the edits until after all entries are in and the voting is over with. Since I'll leave the voting open to all members, I want to do as much as I can to get honest votes instead of biased votes. You know what I mean?

Tell ya what... if some of you have finished with the contest and want to just show off non-comp, start a new thread here in the DD with ideas of the type of vehicle you want to use as a starting point. If we can come to a majority decision by let's say Sunday, I'll see if I can come up with a decent hi res shot of that model that you can use. Then you can post as many variations as you want, whenever you want. How's that sound? BTW -- I really only have access to hi res GM pics.

I took the top part of the roof and enlarged it so that it would fit when I put it back on to the cab lower than it was originally.

It really doesnt matter if you list them or not. I just figured it would give the people who are judging something to go by so they dont overlook anything. that's all no big deal if you dont want to list them. plus it allows people to see how creative you are and stuff like that...

If you'd like to include a list of changes, I can probably include them in the photo description once I upload them to Imagestation. If you're ok without, that's cool too. I'm not sure whether I will include one or not personally.

As for names on the pics, there have been a few entries with them and I've replied to the emails indicating that I'd rather edit them out so that we can keep the voting more honest instead of turning it into a popularity contest.

CRAP!!!In the rush saturday night to finish packing for our family vacation,I forgot to submit my chop!Maybe I should just post it anyway,and see how it would have done.I doubt that I could enter it this late.I just got home a couple hours ago,and just now remembered.Maybe next time.:bawl:
