foudn a set of 18 inch american racing torq thrust II rims for my tahoe and want to know if the backspacing will work out.

they're for a 95/96 impala SS so they're the right bolt spacing of 5 on 5 for a fullsize 5 lug chevy.

now my tahoe is the older body style, 2wd, stock height, no fender flares.

Would 18x8 with a 4.5 backspace work on the front (hate when rims stick out and look outta place on the front, such as a 2000 escalade by me with 9.5 inch wide 20's with 285's on them stickin out past the flares) without sticking out too much, or rubbing on the inside when I turn the wheel all the way to the lock (livin in NYC that happens quite a bit)

and would 18x10 with a 6.5 backspace fit without any trouble on the back (guess it can stickout a little bit, I really like the uneven staggered look on rwd cars/trucks ie. CLK 430) Let me know guys if necessary I guess I could try spacers, would rather buy these rims and pay shipping than have to wait the 6 weeks I've been told by the local shops and pay a heck of alot more. I even get some lame low profile tires (245/40 and 285/35) with them.can probably sell those off and get a few bucks back and cover shipping that way.

ps. if this would get a better responce in another forum just let me know and I'll copy it or let a moderator move it.

its a 2000 but its the older body style....I got the rims off of ebay, and they wound up clearing, I'm sitting down right now...about to head off to the tire store to have some pirelli scorpion zero's thrown on the rims...but I think I hafta wash the truck first, want to see them in all their glory, and of course on a clean black tahoe.

since you're from airride...whats the benefits of air over straight out lowering, I think thats my next mission, supercharging or a stereo are gonna cost a bit too much for now.

I am glad they fit...... i was gonna say the best fitment for those trucks would be 18x9.5 (10) at a 53/4" backspace in the rear and an 18x8 with a 51/4 ( if using lowered spindles ) in the front. The benifits of going to air is that you simply have almoast infinite adjustment as far as your ride quality and performance. read the new sportrck where they did the performance shootout, the truck on air won.

how much cost are we usually talkin (I ain't messin with all that labor, I'll find something to screw up)...air seems the way to go...especially around here in NYC some of the streets are the equivalent of offroad.
