View Full Version : Rhino line the inside?
The inside carpet of my 85 regular cab silverado is shot to hell, and is in desperate need of replacement. I was just going to re carpet it, but now that I think about it I might just have it rhino lined. Now my other project in the near future is to put sound deadening material in there sometime to prepare for my sub and to make the inside just a little quiter(38 superswampers make some decent road noise lol).
I was quoted at around $200 to have the inside floors and whatnot stripped, cleaned, taped and rhino lined. Does that sound like a decent deal? Also, how well would this go in conjunction with putting sound deadening materials in there? TIA!

The liner would act as a sound deadener. Is it as effective as dynamat? I dunno, but there is 100% coverage of the area. Nothing is going to stick to the liner very well due to its rough texture.

yeah, those were my two questions. I figured nothing would stick to it afterwards, but if it does a good absorbing job then I'm fine. Anybody know just how good its dampening ability is?

The guy that Rhino's here said he doesn't have to texture it after he sprays it, and that it can be fairly smooth.

I would still just go with the original plan of only the coating on the floor boards, it will indeed act as a sound deadener. But on the back wall and doors, and maybe even the headliner, I would leave clean to add Dynamat (or whatever other you choose). Maybe have them prep those surfaces, then its easier for you to install the deadening material later!

yeah, I think I'll go that way, although I may do the bottom 6 inches of the doors on the outside. If I didn't have the liner textured, how well would dynamat stick do you think? Just throwing out ideas.

I am not sure if it will stick to the polyurethane liners. Check with the dealer/installer. If you doubt it, don't do it. Go the safe route.

yeah, I'll ask them as well, I just figure I would get my second opinion first from you guys.
Now here's the question of the day: What color should I use? It's a red carpeted car that's red outside with white rims and white under door trim. I was thinking either going red or black rhino liner inside. any thoughts?

I would say that black is a very universal color...goes good with anything really.
yes, it is a univeral color, which is good. I just wasn't sure if I should follow suit with my OEM carpet color which I'm replacing.
