how much did you pay to install a flowmaster?

Hey guys,

I have a 2003 z71 ext cab and I would like to install a flowmaster exhaust. The local reputable muffler shop told me that they charge 290.00 to install a flowmaster muffler(he couldn't tell me which series/model it is) and to install 2 exhaust lines from the rear of the muffler to the back of the truck with 2 chrome end caps. Does that sound like a reasonable price? He also told me if my stock muffler is a 2 in and 1 out that it would cost another 100.00. That doesn't make much sense to me because he said that in that situation they still only install one muffler so the little bit of extra labor/material shouldn't cost 100 bucks more. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

if you go to an exhaust shop and they tell you they don't know what series muffler it is, then you just walk out the door and find another place:read:


i think the 03 is the same as my 02 and should be a single in/out muffler. you could easily pick up the muffler from any number of online places for a great bargain, and then just bring it in and have them do the install. I think your inlet pipe should be a 3" if that helps any.

HAHA -- :word: I just had true duals installed on my truck two days ago, with 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and also an X pipe install, and it cost me 150 bucks.

BTW -- check out this link on ebay. I purchased my mufflers from this guy. Brand new, perfect condition flowmasters never opened for only 38 bucks a piece. Awesome deal, he had them to me in 3 days.

i payed $300 for
1 in 2 out 50 series flowmaster
ONE 3 inch pipe from Y pipe to muffler and TWO 2 1/2 pipes goin behind the tires with chrome tips

I had two 40 series installed and dumped for 300 on my 96 vortec 5.7L

Is it possible he is trying to sell me a cat back system? I was just wondering if there would be any reason he is wanting to charging me that much money? I think it's pretty obvious that I need to call around a little more before I go to him though. Thanks again.
