i have heard all of you talking about magnaflow and flowmaster. now how is a gibson exhust are they that bad that none of you has talked about them? i have a 2002 hd regular cab long bed with a 6.0 and was considering a gibson and was wondering how they stood up, worked and how it sounded? thanks

The reason you hear more about Magnaflow and flowmaster is because people want more sound. Gibson exhaust systems are designed around performance first then sound. Don't get me wrong, you still get the deep throaty sound from a Gibson single and dual system, but unlike Flowmaster and Magnaflow you don't hear nothing inside the cab ( resonance ), plus all of their systems guarantee performance in the low rpm range between 2000 & 4000 RPM. I beleive Flowmaster promises performance betwwen 4000-5000 rpm's, which street trucks don't even touch. So, hope this is enough info to help you out on your decision. Good luck. FleXX

Gibson is a pretty decent exhaust. Very quiet. Even quieter than my huge Magnaflow. They probably flow a bit better than a Flowmaster, but a notch below a Magnaflow... Probably not enough to notice the difference though...

I have Gibson systems on both my 2001 Silverado and my 2000 Tahoe and am very happy with them. The quality is great, they aren't too loud (your neighbors will like it) but when you get on it it has a nice throaty sound. The installation is easy, took less than an hour to install and I did notice a performance increase.

thanks for all the info sounds exactly like what i am after, little more grunt than stock but comfortable inside and easy on the ears outside. i see gibson doesent make a complete systedm for a regular cab long bed HD but i think just a muffler might be the way to go anyway, they make a dual in and dual out like mine so i will let you nkow sometime after i get it on. and another question what is the difference between the two lengths? any power or sound differences? thanks

Call Gibson and ask for part # 766024. It's a dual 2.5" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet muffler. This is the same muffler that comes on the Dual Sport and Split rear systems.

I put a aluminized Gibson Side Swept Cat back on my truck last month and love it. It is deep and throaty when you step on the gas as everyone has stated, but at cruising speeds you dont have a loud annoying sound. Very easy to install, and I had a local exhaust shop weld instead of using the clamps....cost $45. to have them weld.
I would reccommend Gibson!

I have the Gibson split rear dual system and I really like it. Like everybody is saying, not too loud but sounds good on take off. I also had a muffler shop double check my install and weld up the pipes for about $20.

I tried Gibson, Magnaflow, and Corsa on my tahoe (5.3 litre). The Gibson was by far the worst in both the performance and sound categories. I noticed zero performance, which makes me wonder why it is called a "performance exhaust. I had the single out swept side. Magnaflow was better, than Gibson; Corsa blows them both away.

I have Gibson swept side on my Blazer............I love it......it is my daily driver and i dont want some annoying loud :cussing: exhaust, so Gibson was perfect and it still has a rap to her but not loud........when the girlfriend takes it to work and pulls in the driveway at night I can tell she is home, but she doesnt wake the whole neighborhood up. Kinda sounds a little big blockish!!The performance--I could feel a difference in when I would go to pass someone on the highway. A little better throttle response. I think if you were to throw the headers on there and get ride of the cat....and get a cold air intake....you might get more use out of the cat-back system?? I am planning on buying some of the Gibson headers and a cold air intake. But first need new tires to put on my American Racing Rims I got off a buddy. I like not being loud and if it was loud it probably would not be as much fun to drive or a daily driver.......damn pigs!!

welll flex heres the deal. i am at some point going to but a gibson, but just the muffler for my stock system for now. now i am a machinest and the company that i work for just informed us that they are dangerously close to going bankrupt! and jobs around here are hard to come by at the moment. i just bought a set of helo maxx 8 wheels,(that havent made it here yet) i am working with a local paint shop to get some things colormached on my truck and that will happen as soon as the roll pan comes in that i ordered. but since my job may be non exsistant soon i think i will pay off what i have already bought, and put some more money in the bank. (good thing i didnt buy the house i was looking at too) will post pictures when everything is complete thanks for alll comments
