View Full Version : bag help
I got a 99 sierra...so far bone stock....I am wanting to either lift it or drop it. I don't know to much about dropping it with bags and just need some help. What is a good setup for my truck?? Im looking to beable to drop it right to the ground or pretty close and then lift it to stock height or a little bit lower. I live in a snowy climate so in the winter they throw a lot of salt on the roads and what i would do is throw the stock wheels and tires on. Will the salt on the roads hurt or break the bags? Or if its cold out will that affect the bags? I would be getting around 22in wheels prob not any bigger cause it just gets to expensive. I kinda know the basics on how bags work but does the bags get rid of the springs and shocks or the leaf springs in my case? Also is it harder to install bags on a 4wheel drive?? Thanks for all your help

on a 4x4 you wont be able to go that low, but you can still get pretty low. another problem you will run into is being able to get 22's to fit under your truck when its aired out. if installed correctly the air bag system should run fine in the winter, just if you park in a heated garage you will lose pressure in your tank and bags when it is exposed to the cold weather. but thats not a problem. The only thing that I would really do to make sure about the rusting issue would be to maybe powder coat or paint your shock relocators up front and your four link (replaces your leaf springs)
if you are serious about bagging it, then I would really consider smaller wheels up front like a 20/22 combo. Its gonna be pretty dam tight in there with 22's
good luck though
K so i think i will go with 20's maybe a 20/22 combo cause that would be pretty cool. What company would you recommend for the bags...I was looking at air ride tech and they look pretty good but i don't know of to many companies. Another question with airbags is are you able to drive at any height or is their designated heights or is it you can just drive with full air in it or with no air??

Or just 20's all around. You don't want to run staggered sizes like that on a 4wd.

Air Ride Technologies is a good company. The best in the biz. Air Lift is another good choice. Whatever you do, stay away from AIM/ChassisTech.
Yes, you can drive at any height you want. After you get your bags installed, figure out what is a comfortable height for you to drive at. Note the pressures. That's where you get your alignment done. Anything above or below that and your alignment will be off. You can drive with full air, but you wouldn't want to; it's rough as hell up there. You can drive with it fully aired out if you're not rubbing your tires or anything like that, but again, it's rough as hell.

If you're running 2 different diameters front to rear and using your 4wd you're going to tear stuff up.
