First of all, I'm new so my questions may seem :dunce: I'll give my specs first, then ?'s 2002 Chevy silverado, reg. cab, reg. bed, dark blue. I plan on using a 4x6 drop kit by DJM. I want to install it myself...has anyone out there done this? If so, was it difficult? The lower control arms don't look that difficult but the flip kit does. The instructions that come with the kit are not that good. Is there a link I could go to for this?
These other questions I'll post on different forums but I'll ask here just in case. Will 20's with 275/45/20 tires rub on the 4x6 drop? Also, I got sandblasted in the desert a few months back and have microchips throughout the driver's side (glass and paint) I've ordered some cerium oxide for the glass because it sounds like it may polish out the marks, is this true? Also what is my best bet for the paint? I'd like to do all this myself so I can spend more money on aftermarket stuff rather then labor.
I know I had a lot of questions...sorry. Right now, info on the suspension is the most important to me. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.
BTW...All of us should be thankful to the creator of this page and to each other for the advice that is shared. This is by far the best resource for customized trucks on the Net. Thanks, Jason :cheer:

Y2ksierra installed his djm 4/6 on a 2000 ex cab chevy. I'm sure if you have any questions he can answer them. I think a 275/45/20 will rub, badassilverado is running the same size tire with a 3/4, and I think if he went down another inch up front itd definately rub. I cant answer your paint question, but if you need to go to a shop, take it to all body auto body. I forget what the address is, but I can get it if you need it:D

Well I can answer your tire question. Yes, if you don't alter your stock bumpstops in the front it will rub in the upper fenderwell if you have the right back spacing.( it will rub the outer fender with the wrong backspacing) When I had DJM arms on my truck, I made an extension for my bumpstops to put them back at the same spacing from the lower control arm as stock. I didn't have any more problems after that. If you have 8.5 wide rims you need a 6 inch back spacing. 5.5 for 8 inch.

Yes you need 6'Backspacing with a 8.5" or 5.5" with a 8" rim no problems here and def. go DJM

275/45/20 will work as slammedchevy01 just said :D it's all about the backspacing ;)

as for doing the drop yourself, go for it!

the flip kit is actually really easy to do, as are the front LCA's.

if you have any questions about it, feel free to PM me...

you'll need a floor jack, jackstands, impact wrench, angle-grinder/sawsall for the notch, and other basic hand tools found in most garages to do it all yourself. if you can, get a buddy to help you out with the drop.

there is a good starting point to look at to see if you'd like to attempt this yourself.

once again, if you have questions, just ask, i'm sure tons of people on this site can and will give you pointers to save you tons of time.
