one of my friends work in a body shop and he told me that they use rust remover to get waterspots off paint without having to buff it out. it is called whinks rust remover or something like that and is in a brown bottle. found it at the local grocery store. i tried it on my hood since the ram-air will be on shortly and it dissolved all the waterspots that i have been trying to get rid of since it was new. i would just like any input about possible long term effects it may have on my paint before i do my whole truck. if it is safe on my truck i have just found a really good secret trick. :rocking:

i tried vinegar+water and just about everything. the only thing that took them off was 3m rubbing compound and i didn't want to use that because i don't want to wear down the clear. i took the rust remover and wiped it on, went over it with a wet cloth, and dried it off and it took out every waterspot that it touched. btw, these are really bad spots, not like the ones you would get right after washing.

454SuperSport I have a black truck and my water spots sounds like yours and mine is pretty bad on my hood. I just clayed my truck and waxed my truck and the hood still bothers me when i look at it because of somany waterspots.
Is this new product a liquid or paste. How does your paint look after you took out the waterspots?
I will def get this.

be careful if you try this! i did a little spot on my hood to test it out and it worked great. it is whink rust remover in a brown bottle and is a liquid. i squirted it on a dry cloth and wiped a spot on the hood, then wiped it real quick with a wet cloth and dried it off with another rag and it removed every single water spot that it touched. just watch out cause this stuff is pretty toxic. i'm going to wash the truck, do the rust remover trick, wash it again, and wax it. i'll let you know how it turns out.
