No, i'm not dissatisfied with my UPD, just wondering what ya'll's opinions are, since i have the opprotunity to pick up a new FIPK2 kit for my truck for $200 shipped. It says that you can't use it with a TB spacer, but i've seen some of the guys on here with both, is it basically the same as with the UPD, where i shaved:read: a bit of the radiator shroud off:crazy:

I know it's supposedly not a true cold air system, but what if i were to go to a ram air or dowl hood soon that was functional, then you'd have to use an open elemnt filter, right?

if i were to pick it up, i'd have the UPD smoked clear kit i've got on now, up for sale once the new kit was installed:D so i'd make back most of my $$$

Well, the k&n kit isn't sealed....that "seal" still lets hot air in. There are some custom air filters (not specific) that'll create true cold intakes from cowl hoods.

Just using an k&n with a cowl will help a little but not enough.

You could go ahead and sway but I really don;t think it'll be worth it.

Well If you can feel a difference between the tailgate off and on.
You are really gonna think there is a big difference between the upd and the K&N.  :whacko:

I think you would still get cooler air with the UPD, especially if you stick a tube from your airbox to the opening in your airdam. With your fabricating and shaving skills you'll be able to make an awesome ram air system:crazy:

I made one and it only cost $5. Bought a flexible aluminum AC ducting tube from the local hardware store and sawzall a 4" diameter hole in the bottom of the airbox. Got rid of the metal plate under the airbox and connected the bottom of the tube to the tow hook. I had to drill a hole in the bottom of the airbox and bolted the airbox to where the plate was bolted. I got more horsepower from that mod than my neighbor's NOS sticker!
