2wd rear end

I am new the the full size chevy and would like to know if the 2wd c1500's ever can with a g80 or other locking diff and if not does the 4wd rear end fit in the 2wd.

I know for sure that you can get the G80 locker option on the new silverado's, however you didn't say what year the truck in question is :( Also, you can look in the glove box to see if the code G80 is on the list of options from the factory.

I would think that the diff would be universal from 2wd to 4wd.
