I'm getting ready to put an exhaust on my 2002 Silverado. I am putting a 1 in 2 out muffler on. I'm just curious as to what people with this set up have, 3" in and 2-1/4" or 2-1/2" out. Would there be any noticible difference between the 2, or is it just preference? I know that 1 in 1 out apparantly has the best performance gains, but i'm mainly going for looks/sound. I'm either going to put a flomaster 40 series delta flow or a magna flow on it. Thanks in advance...

They are good setups, but if you run two 1 in 1 out mufflers(true duals) you will get better sound and maybe a little more top end power. But the setup works good and I from personal experience would recomend the Flowmaster 40, but others on here like the Magnaflow mufflers..

I just had the Magnaflow single 3" inlet and 2-1/4" dual outlets muffler installed on mine and I love it. I would recommend this muffler over flowmaster, its stainless steel and has a lifetime warranty. Also, you don't get any in cab resonance or drone especially at 75mpgh. However under accleration or WOT it sounds badass. I have had 40 and 50 series flows but I like this one the best.
The ticket said $144.95, and my total drive out was $251.76 installed as you see it.
The part number is: 3.00"/2.25" Dual 14278

The place is called southwest mufflers on HWY6 near clay road (bearcreek golf course area). I just now noticed that you were in Houston :o
What part of town do you live/work??

I have the single 3" in / dual 2.5" out magnaflow on mine and I like it alot. I will changing it all up soon though. Going with two single 2.5" magnaflows with a x-pipe.

If you are going to go for looks/sound and want to stick with a 1 in 2 out, I would say run a 3" in and 2 1/2" outlet, you will get a little more sound out of a 2 1/2 than if you went smaller. As for Flowmaster or Magnaflow, both are good... I think you get a little more sound out of Flow's but more power out of a Magnaflow. I am going to be getting a 3" in, dual 2 1/2" out Magna put on Friday. Since your truck is a little newer (and has dual cats, unlike mine), I would actually run the Magna dual in/dual out with a built in X.

thanks durden, that 2 in 2 out does seem like a good idea. i looked on their web sight and really didn't know what i was looking for. i would like to get in in Stainless if they have it. i guess i'll have to ask a muffler shop about that. Unless any of you know exactly which i would need, part #...... Thanks

No problem. They do offer a couple 2 inlet/outlet mufflers in stainless. The part number that would be a little louder is #14468. Another that is stainless too, just has a little bigger body (not AS loud) is the #14568. Magnaflow stainless (http://www.magnaflow.com/03cat-back/03ss/03stainlesssteel.htm)

Here I was thinking I was the only one with a side exit in front of the rear wheel:( . I used a Flowmaster 70 series (heeeuge muffler) with 3" inlet and two 2.5" outlets. I did the work myself and it went to gether surprisingly easier with basic handtools. The only thing I had to farm out was the 90o bends in the exit pipes coming out of the muffler, but that only cost me $30 including the cost of the pipe and bending it. The guy threw in a bunch of clamps too.
I do need to get new tips though as I cheaped out and got tips from Discount Auto Parts and they rusted on the inside. My total cost for that mod was $230 including a new high-flow cat, the muffler, exit tail pipes and cheapo tips.
Take care

So the only difference in the bigger sized mufflers is the sound. Is one recomended over the other? I mean for certain Applications? ( 18" vs. 24" ) which would be better overall for my truck? Thanks again.....

Between the two mufflers I listed in my earlier post, basically the only difference would be how much sound they dampened. Smaller=Louder, dont get me wrong, the bigger magnaflow will still roar when you step on it, just have a little less sound at highway speeds/idle. Its pretty much up to you on which to get.

Will I lose any performance in the lower rpms if I go with the Magnaflow 2.5" dual inlet/dual outlet for a stock 97' 350
I dont want to lose any off the line power.
Thanks
