View Full Version : Switching steering wheel with airbag
My dad wants a new steering wheel for his truck, but it is equipped with airbags. Do you need a special adapter to put a new wheel on an airbag column? I changed wheels in my 88 without airbags, does it have the same kind of column?
Yes the column and adaptor will work just like on your '88.:head:

If it is a 95+ column, the adapter is different as to the 94 below columns. Atleast this is what all the aftermarket steering companies told me and the part numbers are different too.
So which one is it? Does it use the same adapter as the 88 or is it a different one?

I believe CKTA was referring that it would work the same way, but it's not the exact part for the adapter. I had to specify that the adapter was for a 95+ airbag column.
Check out this page for some part numbers:

Also if you email lecarra they will get back to you within a day, or you can always call them they will answer your question on the phone.
