I finally got my electric autometer fuel pressure gauge all hooked up. Now the needle jumps to 100 and doesn't move. I called autometer and I was told to check that it is hooked to a good 12v source, it is. I called them back, they are closed for the weekend. I have the system grounded right to the battery so I know it is grounded properly. What could the problem be?

see if your wire from the sending unit is touching the 12 volt wire, the terminals are close to each other on the back of the gauge, if they were touching each other would cause the problem you are seeing.

I think the sending unit is bad. I spoke to someone at autometer on friday night just as they were closing and he said I probably have a bad sender. He told me to make sure I was getting 12v on the red wire, I am, make sure it is grounded, it is, and make sure I'm getting 5v on the grey wire, I am. I did notice that whether the sender is hooked up or not, the gauge still reads 100. that would make me think it has nothing to do with the sender. I'll check the wires again to make sure none of them are touching somehow.

I think there was a warning in the instructions about being careful with crossing / shorting wires that the gauge would be damaged. I agree with you if you unplug the sending unit with no change in the gage, I dont think it is the sending unit.

As if that wasn't stressful enough. I ordered a new PCM from Nelson Performance. It took well over a week to get here. I put it in, the truck won't start. Now I have to send the thing all the way back to Texas so he can try again. I need to stop buying things for this damn truck. Literally everything has been a problem. Nothing is what I'm told it will be.
