flows single or dual?

I have a 00 5.3 stepside Z71 with a single in dual out 40 series flow with 3 1/2 by 20inch echo tips dualed out the back. It sounds good but I want somthing louder and meaner. I have been thinking about getting true duals by putting on 2 40 series mufflers. What is the difference in sound/performance? Should I exit out the side instead of the back/sound difference? I am looking for something that looks good but also gives me a mean sounding truck. Is it possiable to have echo tips coming out the side instead of just pipes, what would that sound like with true duals/what size tips? Should I get an X pipe, what exactly does that do?:cool:

True duals would be louder than a 1 into 2. If you are looking for something louder and already have some big ass tips, maybe try true duals with turn downs. I'm not sure aside from true duals what else you could do to make it louder aside from just runnin straight pipes (no mufflers):LOL:

I run true duals and it is more quiet than my buddies who has the same exact truck as me. he has the dual in dual out flowmaster
