slammedchevy01 has a 50 series non-delta flowmaster muffler of his v8 I might be interested in trying to engineer onto my 4.3
Would it sound like a honda with a folgers exhaust? i.e. BAD or would it actually sound decent?
anyone?
anyone?

I'm fixing to get an exhaust on my 4.3, and from what I've read it won't sound ricey. People have told me it will have a decent tone, but it will never compare to a V8. I pretty sure I'm gonna get a 40 series single in/dual out.

I'm pretty sure mines 2 1/4 in inlet. Don't quote me on that one. I'm sure any competent exhaust shop could adjust it to 3" though.

I talked to a friend and he said it would work.....Also the 40 is a 2 chamber muffler, it will be louder because the exhaust gas has less to travel before it exits so thus it will be more high pitched I do beleive....?Any V-6ers' got an Opnion....???? How much would you be willing to pay CasterTroy..?Out here new they are $122.00 for just the Muffler...? Layte, Adam

I had a single in/dual out flowmaster 40 on my '95 4.3 and it didn't sound ricey at all. You could hardly tell the diff from a v8 at idle but you could as the rpm climed. I thought it sounded good for a 6 and it was LOUD. It was actually a lot louder that the magnaflow I have on my 5.3. But i would stick to no bigger that a 2.5 in / 2x2.25 out though. I tried going up to a 3" in on mine and I did loose a lot of low end but didn't see the trade off on the big end. Put the 2.5" down pipe back on and everything was good again.

I had 3.5x12 tips straight out the back.
BTW... a 4.3 is still a 4.3 rather it be the old tbi or a new vortec. It may sound a little different but not much. Also my 95 was a transisition year. Although it had tbi it had Vortec heads so it would sound more like a new one that say a 88-94.

How many chamber is the 40 series? Was yours Delta flow or Non-Delta Flow? Or is their even a choice w/ the 40 series? Sorry for all the questions. I would PM you but I figured others would like to know this info also. Thanks.

Rada_00 has the 4.3 in his 2000 silverado and he started off with a single in dual out 40 series delta flow Flowmaster, and recently he switched to true dual Flowmaster 40's and it sounds damn good for a V6 and it is run out the back with dual 3 1/2" X 20" tips. It sounds like a V8 at idle and sounds good through most of the RPM's now..

Did you hear his first set up?

Yes and if I owned a 4.3 I would put an exhaust like he has now, it sounds much better with the dual mufflers.
His first exhaust didn't sound quite as good as the new one, and it sounded more ricey in the upper RPM's than it does now.

On a 4.3L, if you go dual out don't go bigger than 2 inch. It'll be a lot easier to route and will still flow out more than the single 2.5 inch going in.
