I see it in the truck mags all the time...at cali truck shows etc....but does anyone HERE do it?
Never seen a fab-tech kit here on the east coast. Just wondering who does this kinda thing and why? Why not get the 4wd?

out here in teh desert at least you see lots of prerunner trucks. For Racing you can't beat the suspension travel that can be gained form a modified 2 wheel drive, without having to worry about 2 driveshafts. I've seen some s-10's, Rangers, and fs Chevy 2wd's that have 24"-32" of wheel travel. Plus for this type of racing, the trails used are really bumpy, and it would be hard for a 4wd suspension to absorb the bumps without knocking out some teeth. I think i'll still stick with my 4WD's though. i like going over obstacles Slowly .

i have a lifted 2wd tahoe.its a Pro Comp lift. i would rather have a 4wd but the main reason i dont is money. A family member sold me the tahoe at a reeeeeeeal cheap price i couldnt pass it up. Where i live 4wd is never needed. 2wd are cheaper to lift and modify also cheaper insurance. easier to maintain and less parts that can break. i have 4.56 percision and Auburn Limited Slip in the rear end with 35" bfg muds so i can still play in the mud and not worry about getting stuck. for me 2wd is more practical:rocking:

ProComp just recently introduce their 2WD suspension lineup. Kinda funny they start in on the 2WD market while Fabtech gets into the 4WD market  Nothing wrong with a lifted 2WD truck. Alot of guys lift their 2WD trucks out here and they look good. Sure a 4WD truck may be better in some situations but alot of people don't want to spend the extra money on 4WD cause they'll never use it but still want the lifted look

OH don't get me wrong....I never meant anything at ALL wrong with it....Matter of fact I'd DO it....if my friends wouldn't give me 3 degree's a grief for doing it :cussing:
I like it...just wondered why others did it and what excuse they offered up (well i mean who cares it's your truck right? I just mean what reason do you give for doing it)
I'd do it myself if my wife wouldn't raise holy cain about it :argue:

I have a tahoe limited and thinking of doing the same type of lift. I've seen one done and it looked pretty good even with those side skirts. :mexsmoke:

I am going to be lifting my 2wd 1 1/4"(I know it's not much) and putting 31" tires on it soon. I got a 2wd because I don't use the truck in situations where 4wd is needed. The only type of offroading I do is exploring dirt trails and logging roads. No need for 4wd, but the extra ground clearance is nice. When I get completely done with my truck(audio system, lift, tires, ect.) I will have spent less on both the truck and mods than I would have spent to get a 4wd, so it is cheaper.

Thinking of lifting my tahoe limited with same kit. What backspacing are those wheels and could i go with a 20" wheel and 35's

I just leveled mine and it sits a little higher than stock. Love it, especially in the desert when I go off-roading a little, you don't need 4WD, just the clearance that's all.
