I don't know the BEST header, but Hamm, Arizona S&M, Other guys, and Lapole are all very good headers for the 5.3:D

I bought mine for $360 2 and a half years ago. so, I'd say you're getting them for a good price.

ASMs are expensive and produce about the same numbers as Hamm Headers. Based on that I would have to say Hamms...LaPoles are suppose to put out similar numbers to the Hamms but are emissions legal on the 02s.

You want the best headers for a 5.7? Go with Doug Thorley Tri Y headers. Best header for that truck hands down!

I'm still sticking with Gibson. less than half the price and high quality.

Half the price...half the performance!

highly doubtful, especially on a 97 model. I can't say for certain though, since I have no imperical evidence to back this up.

I do know however that on a relatively stock engine, a setup that scavenges the way the triple Ys do on the thorley headers many times will have less of a power increase than a simple shorty header, especially when looking at torque figures.

Ok, I'm confused...

If I want an overall HP and performance increase in comparison to the stock manifolds and exhaust, but don't want a loud a$$ noisemaker, what should I look at and where can I find them?

I'm a professional sales rep and I choose to drive a 4wd over a sissy import...Just my personal preference, and I still have to maintain a certain appearance and impression when taking a customer to lunch...

What are the possible mfg's and their advantagages over a competitive company?

I think the noise makes them sound powerful... just my opinion, I could be wrong.

What better way to impress your customers than with a "performance" sounding truck!
