Ok, for all of you who wanted LED anywhere in you truck, I'm going to list every bulb for now, and where it goes, ill take pics within the next few days of what i have done and write a complete article than.

i would suggest shopping here, great place
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CAR
btw, 194 with 6 leds rule.

74 is the same as the 1.5, but the 1.5 is already mounted to a turn in thing for clusters, to use 74's, i advise getting all of the plastic piece off, ill show you how to do this in the next/final stage

All these should be plug & play, unless noted with *SOLDERING* to indicate that you will need to hook it up yourself(not very difficult, imo)

LEDS:
2 under dash - 194
2 in-doors - 194
2 dome - 4211
4 Dome Maps?(normal white light that you can turn on with the button next to the domes, not sure what you would call them) - 4211
2 map (very front 2) - 194
6 dash cluster(speedometer etc)- 194
2 cluster blinkers - T1.5
8 warning lights
6 - T1.5(service engine, battery, check gauges, security, abs, parking
ashtray - 194
glovebox - 194
underhood - 89
underhood extensible service light - ?
vanity mirror lights - 74

2 - 194(haven't got these to mount properly yet) air bag, seat belt *SOLDERING, unless you can geta 194 with weird outputs, you could move them also, is what i might do, but i will probably solder my 74 mounts in there*
2 headlight lights - T1.5 (DRL and highs)
4 A/C cluster -T1.5(amount will change on certain years)
3 a/c buttons - T1.5
7 drive train(P R N D 3 2 1) - 74 *SOLDERING*
3 4x4 buttons(amount will change on certain years) *SOLDERING*
2 4x4 back glow *SOLDERING*

on the rest of the interior i did not feel the stock options were adequate, so i did some cool stuff
Stock:
2 window buttons(4 is 4dr, the other 2 will go in rear window buttons) - 74
2 lock button- 74 (may require sanding bulb down)
2 mirror button -74

Mine:
3 window buttons(wired up so they r directly under the buttons, ill take pics soon) - 74 *SOLDERING*
2 lock button(wired up so they r directly under the buttons)- 74 *SOLDERING*
4 mirror button -74 *SOLDERING*

Exterior:
2 reverse - 3156
2 front corner lens bulbs - 194
4 parking lights -1157
4 taillight - 3057
2 rear license plate - 194

also: use this light application guide to use for whatever you need.

if i missed anything please let me know, ill post like the more official tech article(hopefully will become a sticky or sumtin) when this is perfect and i have pics(ill check over this later, just ran thru it for 30 mins)

the bulbs are polarity sensitive tho so dont put it completley back together till you make sure all of them go on

GOOD LUCK :)

Great write up Carnios

Still a little confused and need a little help.....
(i have a 99 2dr Tahoe)

1.Not sure what soldering is?

2. I was reading you need 6 leds for the a/c contols, do you have to do soldering with removal/replacement of these bulbs? Or is it as simply as pulling out the old and putting in the new?

3. I have 4x4 (push button) with Autotrac, you stated 3 leds then stated 2 back glow? Not sure what this means? How many would i need? Also is soldering needed for these?

Is it very difficult to get to these bulbs?

Have you done the headlight switch?

Sorry for so many questions....

Its like melting a material that is in a normal wire shape, and it makes the connection between metal things way better, and keeps them connected

5 of those are the T1.5, you just have to pull the A/C unit out, take out the 5 twist sockets from the back, and pop in the new lights's(test to make sure they are in the right polarity, switch if needed
if you have a 3rd button for rear defrost, it will take some modding of a 74 bulb

there are 5 little sockets total in the circuit board of this, 74 bulbs, soldering required on all, 2 of those bulbs are the glow from when u have like parking lights & interior cluster on, the other 3 are for when the setting is acctivated

Is it very difficult to get to these bulbs?
No, refer to the first post here, gives you a good site to buy from

Have you done the headlight switch?
yup, 74 or T1.5(forgot which 1)

Sorry for so many questions....
No problem.

Thanks for your help Carnios

I meant to ask you if the headlight bulbs were hard to get at? I heard they were :dunno: Are those in need of soldering?

Not sure how to do this soldering, so i probably will need help....i am sure my dad will be helping so i am thought i would find out which need it before i start tearing the dash apart.

Nice mod *bump*

nice mod. I was also looking for that but gave up after being convinced I must add a resistor ballast at each led bulb to compensate the difference of resistor value, especially in the turn ligth circuit.
Seems that's not necessary as you don't complain about any malfunction...

I used your information to replace the bulbs in my 120 mph cluster with LED's. Right on the money, thanks much. I used the white LED's and with the Teal background that comes with this guage it made it glow blue. Looks great. Then I added the NuImage trim and looks even better. The pic does it no justice.
