Before starting this project:
Make sure you get a fuel line/ac disconnect kit. You need both the 3/8 and the 5/16 size. You use these to seperate the fuel lines from the tank. Once you see them you'll know how they work.

I have a tahoe so I had to use the drop the tank method. You need a floor jack and 2 jack stands minimum. A board to jack the tank up with is nice to have. You can disconnect the two hose clamps at the tank and drain it from there (if it's not too full!).

Spray some PB Blaster on the strap bolts a couple of times before you start. The stuff is magic!

If you are worried about stretching out the electrical/ fuel lines, You can get at them from the drivers side rear wheel well. Just put the jack under the tank ( use the board) and lower it a small amount. The main electrical connector is easier to disconnect from the passenger side with the tank lowered.

If you are fitting a new pump to the sending unit, (I did- screw spending $300. I spent $37.99) The screen is an interference fit. Just pry it off at the metal ring with a screw driver. Don't pry against the thin plastic part nearby, it's easy to break (Trust me). MAKE Sure you get at the internal screen, its not the first one you see. It requires some disassembly.

The bolts holding the straps for the tank get tightened to 33 ft.lbs
Make sure you get a good ground connection when re-installing the ground screw. I used some emery cloth on both sides, and sprayed a little carb cleaner to get rid of the grit.

When you replace the pump, replace the pump relay. Mine was in the engine compartment fuse block. Piece of mind is worth the 10 bucks.

All the parts are avialiable from advanceautoparts.com. Go on the AC Delco web site to get the proper part #'s. I used real delco parts. I don't trust anything else.

Hope all this can help someone.

If you cant wedge the fuel tank back up in there then take the parking brake cable clamp off. It gives you just enough room.
