Thumbs up DJM Calmax Level 2--4/6 Drop
This kit is great. For you guys that are running stockers and you don't have the money for rims and tires, this is the kit to go with. DJM put together a kit just for us. UpFront, the kit uses Lower control arms, that allow you eliminate fender gap, i thought this kit was going to be a little too low, but after driving it around, i realize this is just right. I am even thinking of going lower in the front and back an inch. In the rear, DJM uses a c-notch that you can either bolt-in or weld-in, but i just bolted mine, you also flip the axle. I would recommend this to anyone before you think about a 2/4 because once you go low, you just want to go lower. thank you, and i would buy this at stylinconcepts...good service, but that's another thread.

Agreed, I have a DJM 4/6 drop on my '96 x-cab. The kit consists of spindles/springs and flip kit. Everything fit well and worked great. I have used other DJM kits on friends trucks and have found the same things. Definatly a company to consider.:)

CKTA, did you loose any turning radius with djm? I'm contemplating them and Belltech. I know some here don't like Belltech, but I hear they're the best for chevy 88-98 (and you do pay for the name).

I'm on a budget so I'm looking for "the best for the buck" type of thing!

I did not have DJM on a 88-98 GM, but I had it on my 99 Chevy Ext Cab. I lost some of my turning radius but nothing that would ever bother me or make it undrivable. I did not even notice it after the first couple days. I had the 4/6 Calmax kit.

I did'nt loose any turning radius, however you have to trim your lower control arms if you run the stock wheels (15") DJM is not all that bad on price, call Stylin' Concepts and get their 4/6 Djm kit w/ shocks. They are great people to deal w/ and have real good prices also!

If you are running a 99 & + don't use their shocks, I would suggest spending the extra money and getting some better shocks. I hate the toxic ones.

I didn't notice any loss in turning radius, and i didn't trim the control arms. I never said that belltech never made anything good, because I never ran belltech, but I have heard that pre 99 they did make some good spindles, i would just never run anything but what I know is quality stuff.

The '99 and up kits are different......he is asking about '88-'98. You will have to trim the control arms w/ stock wheels and the shocks that come w/ thw '88-'98 kits come w/ Pro Comp shocks and are decent. Call Stylin'.

Would you call the DJM 4/6 a DIY job for a couple guys with 8 S-10s dropped between the two of us? How would we cut the notch if we don't have fancy tools? Is the kit complete with ALL hardware needed like bumpstops, and such?

i see that you say that the ride quality is good and all with a 4/6 and stock tires, but does the tire rub when you hit a good size bump? And i take it because the kit comes with lower control arms, they do not have to be trimmed, am i correct on this? And are lower control arms better that spindles and/or springs, why?

I wouldn't really say that spindles or springs would be a worse application, but for the type of drop, I just wanted to go with lower control arms. And with the 99' and up, you don't have to trim the control arms. I take it slow over rather large bumps, so I don't have tire rub, but with the stockers, I do rub sometimes when i am taking a right turn rather fast 55 +mph

I know this thread is old but I do have questions..

I have a 01 GMC Extended Cab.. and I am thinking about getting the 4/6.. I really want to go with the DJM kit. My truck has stock rims and tires on it right now P255/70/R16, would I have any major rub if I lower with the 4/6?? Also, I was reading somewhere, "not to sure how true this is", but it said that after this 4/6 drop, people were having a hard time getting the front end aligned like the toe and what not was WAY out and the alignment shop couldn't get it back in line.. is this true??

Hope someone can help me.. Thanks

A 4/6 on stock wheels w/ DJM suspensiopn is fine. As far as alignment it is hit or miss. Some require DJM upper control arms w/ the drop to align right and some don't. How you interprete that is up to you....you can either get the 4/6 kit and try to align it and install upper arms later if needed or just do it off the bat.

thanks for the reply...

I measured from the top of my wheels to the top of the inside of the fender.. the front is 5" and in the back its huge 10".. It just seems to me that if I go 4/6, the front would be awfully close to rubbing.. My tires seem bigger than most regular stock tires.. Do those dimensions seem to be normal for a stock setup.. I bought my truck used, Im not sure if they are the stock tire sizes or what...

As for the alignment issue, that sounds kinda sketchy.. I wish there were some way I would be able to tell if I was going to need to replace the upper control arm too.... .. and if I did need to replace it.. wouldn't that lower my front end even more??

No, the upper arms have no drop. They just give you better geometry and therefore better alignment for lowered ride heights. All chassis' experience flex therefore no 2 are the same. Some need them...some don't.
