thinking about getting some yokohama geolanders 285 75 16 for my 03 hd can anyone tell me about these tires thanks

have owned three sets.....best tire money can bye.

quite, great wear rate, and will go anywhere, and look great.
highly recomend you buying this tire you will not be disapointed

We had those tires on my wife's Subaru Forester and they were not the best and I would not use them again. We replaced them with Goodyear Aquatreds and have been much happier.
The tires were fine in the dry but terrible in the rain. If I nailed it cresting a hill in the rain they would spin the front wheels at 75MPH. We had to replace them at 37500 Miles and the service manager would not pass them for the safety inspection and did not believe we were still driving on them.
Well thats my experience with them for what its worth.

Unreal in the snow. Couldnt be stopped. Great in wet conditions. My only gripe is the wear factor on these bad boys. I drive the 'hoe a lot and these wore a lil to fast for my liking. Otherwise, awesome tire for the buck.

FWIW - I put a set of Yoko Geolanders on my 96 Jimmy before I sold it. I think I only put less than 10K miles on them, but I was VERY impressed.... I could light up the rear tires in the wet pretty easy but hey who cant? They did very well in the snow, I took them into many an unplowed parking lot and let her have it testing them out. I climbed some things in the snow, and hell this was a stock Jimmy all around.....

I also took those badboy Yokohama tires into the mud. Deep mud. puddles, uphills, downhills, you name it. I really gave it hell int he mud and never had any problems, except when I put her nose down in a small creek at about a 60 deg angle and have to get it pulled out... but I digress.....

I never thought I'd put a set of Yokohama tires on an American truck, but I researched a lot and then got em and was happy as a pig in sh!t..... especially since they were much cheaper than local dealers could do me for Pirelli Scorpions, Dunlop Rovers, or Michelins.... let me rephrase that MUCH MUCH MUCH CHEAPER!!

in short, 2 big thumbs up for Yokohama Geolander tires.... there are a few varieties but IMHO they are all good..... go for it


hey BigBlue - I'm new here and cant PM or email yet but I just got a set of Tahoe Z71 wheels the 17x7.5 I'm wondering what size you got your Geolanders for those wheels? I'd love to run 285 but not much choice there especially since I tow and need a tire that can handle a heavy load..... cant find a 17" LT tire fo sheeeeit

I have heard good things about the all terrain version. I have not owned so cannot comment.

I have owned the Mud terrain version and was very dissapointed. I had those suckers bald in 18,000 miles. They are very soft and wore out way to quick for my liking. They did OK in the mud the few times I had them in it. They were pretty loud, especially when getting down to the end of the tread life in them.

I would not buy the mud terrains again but would consider the all terrains.

Had the geolander m/t's..............didnt stand up for me at all..........they were alright in mud.........but very weak on rock/gravel.........wont buy them again.................they look good tho.
