Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
2 Questions:
1 Do you have a pic of where on the block you tapped your Ground? I tried following the factory ground and
2. Instead of making the run from the alt to batt, could you not just remove that fusable link of 12ga wire in your 2nd picture and go into that distro block? There is a nice chunk of metal inside that red housing with some nice lugs to tap into. The reason I ask, I still have the factory batt and side post real estate is at a premium, if you know what I mean.

Look right above the power steering cap:

That goes to the factory ground on the firewall:

NO, if you replace the fusible link, the weakest link is now the piece of OEM 6 gauge wire from that red distro block to the battery.

Ok maybe I don't understand the purpose of the fusable link. Electrically the fusable link and + of the batt are the same point. If you make the run from the alt to the batt...you eliminate that fusable link.

yes and you eliminate a huge safety feature that might save your truck from burning to the ground one day

You really gained 1.5 mpg??? That's crazy! If it can do that, I'll definitely do it.

Ok, so you are saying "Don't" do this mod. Just do the grounds
I believe the point of this is to increase current flow from ground back to alt (I studied hole flow). By jumping the link from the alt to the batt...you ellimnate the fusable link to the red junction box.
My question is, if you are going to do this, why not just run an 8" piece from the alt to the red junction box...
It was stated earlier that if you did that the minimum ga wire would be 6Ga. But if you run this direct to the battery as stated, you eliminate everything. You have 1/0 ga direct wired to the alt. Oh well...

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
no this mod just improves voltage flow all over. If your a puss* and worry about the fused link put a fuse on the alt to batt wire...

Im just tired of people giving information they have no clue about. You will have no problems running a straight wire from your alt to your batt with no fuse...so I don't know why people continue to say you will have a huge safety hazard...my post wasn't directed at you at all, but someone else in this thread.

My bad on the comment. I just don't have the room on my side terminal for another wire. So I would just jump from the alt to the red distro box (still don't get that thing). Which after thinking about it, is easier. I was just wandering why that wansn't done in the demo here, unless the wire into the disto block is <1/0 Ga. If that is the case, then I understand. But electrically, they are the same. You have to understand, I don't like "just do it"...I like to hear the theory behind it...

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
by going straight to the battery your helping flow that much more...your amp is hooked directly to your battery right? Just like why wouldn't you hook your amp up to the fuse block? Because voltage flow isn't as good there...go straight to the battery, heres how..use one of these available at napa... http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant....t_Code=SGMBATT
just go to napa and tell them you need a gm battery terminal with the extra screw in the end...
