I hear ya, but time is an issue for me. It's usually easier for me to just pay more cuzz there isn't enuff time in the day for me.
I'm a bit confused though, It looks as the the pictures show black wires connected to the amp, and there's no mention of it..
Lastly, I'm confused a bout a adding a fuse or not? and where?

I've always added to the existing wire, never replaced. If I ever sell my truck, I can undo the BIG 3 and everything is still stock.

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
does anyone know the exact part numbers and lengths for everything i would need if i just wanted to get some black welding wire. ie wire, guage, connectors. I also have a regular side connector battery without the top connectors, so im assuming i can get those things from like autozone that go into the side connectors.

I dont think anyone has part numberrs. You need to go to a audio shop and start buying foots of wire and connectors.
Autozone most of the time doenst care this stuff.
I purchased everything online on ebay...much much cheaper.
I got a foot of zero gauge stinger wire for $1.99 compared to $6.00 at a sound shop

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
Ok now what is that thing that i need if i have a side connector batter with no top one and can i get those at like autozone. Also all off the grounds, do they have old ones of where they used to be and if so do i just use the same grounds for the new wires.

Yes, you just need to replace the OEM battery terminal lugs with GM adapters like this from Stinger:

You just need to add a ground from the block to the firewall (if there is an existing one), and add another ground from the battery to the chassis.

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
So the ground from the battery to the chasis is the negative side to somewhere underneath the battery or what. Also where would be the best place to do the engine block, i saw where the ground was on the firewall but im kinda oblivious on where to put it on the block and the one for the chasis. thanks.

Yes, just make sure to scrape away the paint on the chassis.

What year truck/SUV? It can pretty much go to any bolt on the block.

Call me what you want, but that fusable link has infact saved my truck from burning to the ground due to a short inside the cab. It was bad enough with the wires under the dash melted, but I can only image having the truck completely on fire with no fusable link.

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
So let me get this straight:
You did alt to battery positive (i have done currently)
Did you do battery to engine block or firewall? Or batter and engine block to firewall? I've been wondering this part so I could get the grounds finished on my truck.
Also do you have factory exhaust manifold? On my 04 GMC I have headers and been wondering if it would get to hot for a wire that close to them.
Thanks for any info.

I'm not sure what the engine compartment of an Avy looks like, but my pics are from my 02 1500HD with the 6.0 motor.
Look at pic #2 of page 1 of this thread. The ground goes from the bolt right above the power steering "dip stick" to the firewall ground in pic #3.
The battery ground goes straight down towards the ground and is grounded to a frame bolt near the left front fog light (sorry I don't have pics of it).

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
I used something like that and had to drill out the hole a bit. It's only a few $ more for 0 ga.

Yes, and Radio Shack, and just about any hardware store.

Re: NBS Big 3 upgrade
now when we do the engine block to ground, does it have to be the fire wall or is that because it is close. Also I have found this out, is this a good place to put te engine block ground?
http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61229
about half way down the page for the pics. let me know thanks.

That works too. I just added to the existing ground that went from somewhere on the block to the firewall.
