Where to ground head unit?
I've heard of people running the ground to somewhere in the kick panel but I couldn't find a good spot.

Re: Where to ground head unit?
I would try the dash supports first. they are not painted and are easy to get to. If you get noise you can move it. other than that you can run it over to the E-brake mount. just remember to clean it up good.

Yea I hit a bolt on the gas break mount...no paint and on the firewall. If I get noise, I might just run it to the factory ground.

You got PM as well

Re: Where to ground head unit?
If you get noise, I would run your radio ground all the way back to the amplifier's ground.

They're not very good grounds.

You think that would be better than the factory ground where the Big 3 is grounded? Or maybe through the firewall and to the frame. I just figure that's less wire than all the way back, through the cab and out the body, then to the frame.

Because the stock GM ground is a noisy piece of crap.

I vote the firewall, lots of good places to attach it to.

edit: and second Cody's recommendation of your amps ground if that is easier

I've had noise problems before where absolutely nothing would get rid of it...until I used the same ground as the highs amp...weird, but thats what I recommend if you have noise problems. I have my radio grounded to the metal bar directly behind the radio and dont have any problems.

I'll keep that in mind if I have a problem, granted I won't even be able to turn it on if I can't find this supposed "Red Wire" at the ignition harness. I always get hung up on the smallest things.
