Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
I've heard both with similar subs and amplifiers and the down facing subs sounded cleaner and a little deeper to me.

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
There will be more of a difference depending on how well the box is design and built than the firing direction.

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
i'd rather have down firing to avoid dmg from stuff on the floor.. and i think the grill things are ugly.

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
Are you building your box? Typically the cheapie prefab boxes will be forward firing. I have a ProBox that i have not put subs in yet that seems to be well built that is down firing. Personally in this truck (mine is a 95) i wanted down firing as i have 3 kids and dont want to damage the subs or to use grill. Plus to me it looks better not seeing them in my truck. More "stealth"

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
what size of subs are planning on putting under there...just to tell you from experience, don't even try putting 12's, not if you plan keeping your seat anyways. the biggest you could get under there is 10's, but the box will take up foot room, i would suggest 8's if you put a couple of 8's under there you'll be ok. My current setup is 2 12's under my back seat and there in seperate boxes seperated by the hump that goes the length of the truck...there way to small, but the perfect size for 8's, so thats what i plan on putting under there.

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
I went downfire on the last two builds and have been happy. No damage to the subs, and not a big difference as long as the boxes are designed right.

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
I went with forward firing as you can get more air space out of the box that way.
Downside, as people have already mentioned, you run the risk of someone kicking them. -Cody

Re: FRONT fire or DOWN fire subs??
I have one downfiring pioneer 12" and it sounds way better than most people with two tens down or front firing. I think it is more in the box and sub(s) than the direction. I just stick with down firing for stealth and protection like mentioned.
