great! I'll probably just pick one up now - at $15 I can't afford NOT to!

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer

alright, probably a stupid question, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Is there any way I can have an aux in on my factory head unit? I haven't pulled it out to look or don't know if any PAC module exist that does this. Just with the cost of the front end combined with the cost of a new screen, I'd rather hold off on a HU if I can make the stock work.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer

I'm glad they have them but I was hoping they were maybe $20-$30 - I wasn't expecting upwards of $100.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer

That's a tough one... PAC at $100+, but you're still stuck with OEM, or bite the bullit, and start in on amp/speakers/x-over.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer

while I'd love to be able to pick up new amps, speakers and crossover, I've got a kid on the way - I just can't justify that purchase now. For right now, it's $300-$400 for new HU or $80 for the PAC. As much as I hate to do it, I think the most logical purchase for me is the $80 and be stuck with stock. And later after things settle down or I come into some cash, go ahead and get all new equipment and get the stock crap out.

If I could get my hands on that Chaintech sound card ///M5 was talking about for a reasonable price, I might be able to justify that too. That should help right?

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer

well it's official, my 10" screen is dead. I just configured the bios for 640x480 and plugged the screen in. It started out ok, but all of the sudden it started looking like that old UHF scramble :

except it was blue

Well, isn't that nice...

Hopefully, I'll get to work on mine tonight! "That girl" is stuck in Springfield, IL because of the weather, so I've got my kitchen pass!
