You can go 300' with CAT5...
One of these days mine will come off the back burner, and hopefully turn out half this good!

just from experience but i hate transfering music VIA disk
you ever thought about getting a USB wireless adapter for your home network? that way when your in your driveway/garage log onto your wireless network and just transfer it from a shared folder on your main computer
you can get a "free" program that syncs folders... long as you don't over use it or abuse it its free... but every time it connects/detects new media/ or manual sync it copies all the new stuff from Folder A to Folder B...
just my two cents...

Not to speak for him, but I believe he's running Windows XP and Centrafuse as a front end.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
Sorry to bring this back from the dead, But I was just wondering how sensitive is your hard drive and DVD-Rom to bumps and such? I've heard of people using Mac Minis in their cars before but nothing like your build. AWESOME job..

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
At first with the HD, I would get some bumps causing the screen to flash. I would have to hit the console where the cpu is mounted to get it to stop. I added some foam padding to both to where the case bolts to the truck and then where the HD bolts to the case. For everything except those major pot holes, it fixed the problem.
I still haven't gotten the DVD drive mounted.

Wow! I just read through the entire thread, and I am impressed. Nice work! Did you by any chance, record the dimensions of your monitor mount? I have the same layout and that info would be very helpful.

I don't have any of the dimensions, but post up the pic of the piece that you need and next time I pull it out, I'll measure it for you.

Don't sweat it. It was the TS bezel I was after. I looked through the posts again and decided the measurements wouldn't help me.I'm better off getting the TS first and working around that. Another ? though. If that is a shark, where did you put the buttons from the frame, and what did they do?

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
it is a shark and the buttons were moved to the inside of the bezel with the screen. If I remember correctly, they adjusted centering and brightness.
