Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
That's what I'm planning on doing, as far as getting something up and going. I've yet to really dig into RoadRunner, AMP, or StreetDeck, but I've checked out FrodoPlayer and CetraFuse, plus I know there are a TON of people just running WinAmp in double mode, and love it. Personally, I think I'm going to start off with CentraFuse... I really like the simple looks of it.
What are you using for your inverter/DC-DC conditioner?

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
yeah I really like CentraFuse and RoadRunner. I'll probably try those two out and maybe Frodo and pick the best one.
I'm going to be using an Opus 150w DC/DC power supply. I had thought about a 90w but figured bumping up to more power could never be a bad thing. Heres a link: http://www.opussolutions.com/index.php?p=product&id=25

it's not me, it's Dad and he's retired, so I guess that explains the belly.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
made some great progress today although it doesn't look like we did. We figured out how to mount the new piece in with the rest of the dash.
At first we were going to try and use the factory mounting clips, we'd have to build a false back to put some posts that would hold the clips, then get them lined up exactly so they'd fit the factory holes. Decided that was too much of a pain in the ass. So instead, we built a bracket that gets mounted to the 'dash internals' - sorry, don't have a pic and it's the best I can describe. I can get a pic later. The new lower dash piece that we're building slides over the bracket and we screw in to the bracket, securing the top. Kinda confusing I know, sorry. I'll get pics installing it and it will all make sense.
heres the bracket:
Then to secure the bottom we installed some 'nutserts' and drilled holes into the cup holder piece.

I appreciate all of the hard work you guys are putting into this project!
However i think you're trying to re-invent the wheel!

Not exactly sure what makes you think I am re-inventing the wheel? I think you're missing the whole point of this build. I want everything to look like it came that way from the factory. I don't want the finished install to look like I bolted on a bunch of pieces to come up with a carputer (don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone else, but it's just not for me).

That might be the tackiest setup I have ever seen. You should hide your head between your legs permanently for suggesting that crap.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
Tough crowd here...
I was just suggesting that rather than doing the whole deal just buy the box and do his own monitor like he's already doing.
But if you guys want to flame thats fine, i'll take my ball and go home.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
It was your phrasing that made it tough on you. In your post it sure looks like you are recommending he mount the monitor on a boom which looks like hell and sparked a bit of a reaction.

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
I took it as he should just go out and buy a pre-made setup... What's the fun in that?

Re: FINALLY installing 10.4" TS and carputer
tonkadawg nice work on the install. quick question the front panel on your console is just held in with clips, and pulls out? wanting to do some stuff on mine just couldn't figure if it was screwed in or what.
