Re: The 'Hoe Install... **work log**

OK, Sean, I'm gonna be needing a bit more information on pre-amps before too long.

As of right now, I'll be using the on-board sound... I know, yuck, but it's not forever. So, I'll be needing (wanting/wishing) a pre-amp to go from a single stereo in to 4-out (only using 3), but in the future will have 4-in 4-out, or would I just be daisy-chaining the in's for now? I don't think I'll need any processing here. For now, I'll be using the amp's crossovers to control the tweet/mid/sub levels, but in the future, I'm still wanting to do the crossovers via the PC.

Any thoughts/help/suggestions on this?

Budget and quality constraints?

Re: The 'Hoe Install... work log

I like better quality than going straight from the PC to the amp, and as far as the budget, I'm not sure where to begin... I'm dumping a decent amount into the whole thing, so I don't want to cheap out, but then again, I don't wanna have to take out a loan on it, plus I have no idea of what kind of ranges I'm even looking at. I'm not sure if something decent can be set up for $50, or if I'm looking at at least $200 and above.

Re: The 'Hoe Install... work log

I have made just a little progress, but hopefully tonight I will be able to get the Tahoe in the shop to start doing to the floor layout of how the console is going to sit on the hump, and then get to fleecing it.

Re: The 'Hoe Install... work log

Have you seen the guy that has the 10.4 in the dash where the radio and a/c controls are?
I wanted to mount one low like yours, but now I'm going in a different direction, at least I know which screen to buy now :)

I talked to Tina last week, and she is hoping to have 11" TS's in sometime soon!

And yeah, I saw the guy over on MP3car.com with the 10.4" in his dash... That looked pretty sweet. I just didn't like where the shifter lever was in comparison to where the screen would be.

Yea that would have really annoyed me, but maybe it was the angle of the pics.
I can't decide if I want a touch screen, just for the navigation system, or do I want a fullkeyboard slide out from somewhere.

You're going to glass that right?
Planning on making it match the stock dash in color or shape?
sorry you probably answered those in the first post, just too lazy to go look this morning.

Re: The 'Hoe Install... work log

I chose to put mine where I did because of the shifter lever in my rides, not because of the pics.

Oh yeah... It already has over a yard of glass on it now!

No, it's not going stock color. If you look at one of NebraskaZ71's threads, I'm going to go with a color similar to that. Some form of a deep gray. Should match well with the existing light gray and white exterior. It will be smooth, and I will be going piece-by-piece on the other interior parts smoothing and painting them to match as well. Well, I'll smooth and then bring the parts in to work and let Research paint them. Might as well be a test rat for a new line of paint/clear/UV, cause I don't think I'd afford our paint any other way!
