Critique my plan
First off, this is going into an Explorer, so yes it will fit lol. I just come here because quite a few of you are very knowledgeable on this subject.
Plans are to add some bass to the audiophile system on an Eddie Bauer Explorer. Has a Panasonic CQ-7105 HU in it already. Everything will eventually be upgraded as money allows, but im going to start with the sub/subs and amp. Im thinking Im going to use one RE SX12 and a Diamond Audio D3 1000.1 monoblock. The SX12s rated at 1000w RMS. Would this match up well or should I get a larger amp? Or should I use a different sub? Im going for loudness rather than sound quality, but SQ still matters. Im trying to keep the total cost for the sub and amp alone around $600. $600 doesnt include the box or wiring. Thanks! |

Re: Critique my plan
The SX will be fine with 1kW, but for the money you will have to pay for it I would buy a different sub. What is your budget and what does it need to blend with?
1991 BMW M5 -- Eclipse 8454, Eclipse PA5532, Seas W18E IB, Alpine-Scan D2904/6000, SoundSplinter Rli8 .65 tuned to 30hz
2002 Chevy Silverado -- 880prs, Seas CA18RNX, LPG 25nfa, Mach 5 IXL-12, JL 1000/1 & 450/4 |

Budget is $600. I think Ive changed my mind on the SX. I see SSA has the Icon+Sundown amp on sale. I may go that route. |

Re: Critique my plan
The SX will get louder, but not have the SQ of others. I had a pair of SX 12s on my KX2500.1 and they hit like a mofo with 6ft^3 @ 32 hz. Also, the SX can handle 1500 RMS fairly easy. My buddy has an SX 12 that he bought after hearing mine that has never been hooked up. If you can't find a deal on it he may be willing to part with it fairly cheap.
Dare to be different... try a Treo SSi. Last edited by pl4yboy : 05-11-2008 at 08:23 PM. |

Re: Critique my plan
The power handling is gonna depend on the size of the box, I have 4 sx 15's (they have the same motors) one easily handled 1000 RMS once in a bigger box the power handling will go down.
