being 6"6" i have the seat all the way back at all times and was wondering if i could still fit a truck box with 2 10inch subs or should i just put one 12 behind the passenger
also i have an alpine head unit w. an alpine 360w amp powering 4 infinity speakers already but i want more bass haha so what is the best sub box for me being i have to have the seat back and what kind of subs to you recommend for the low profile (low volume) i have to deal with i drive an 03 2500hd reg cab ![]() Love the 03 hd miss the 98 2500 R.I.P. |

I am 6'8 and would say that no, you only have space behind not you.

How about two 8's on the passenger side?

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
I second/third both suggestions. Either build a console or build a box behind the passenger seat. I'm nearly 6'4 thus the reason I bought an Ex Cab instead of Reg Cab...I need the extra room behind me, but it gave me the room for more sub space. Use what you can...don't sacrifice comfort for a sub that could go elsewhere unless you really want the sound.

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
we have some tall SOB's on this site! i feel short at 6'2"!! a couple 8"s behind the passenger seat would be a nice upgrade as well as a blow through/center console....
or you could be original and do a headliner box!!! or even do "the regal" and have a 10 mounted in the passenger firewall with the enclosure taking up area in the engine bay!! |

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
I am 6'3" and I ran two Boston Acoustics 8" subs and they sounded good. They do not require as much air space and I could still put the seat all the way back with the low profile of the box. You will be suprised what you can get out of 8's. I did put 10" passive radiator's in with each sub and it sounded great! Good luck with your choices!

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
They make some reeeealy shallow mount subs these days. I'm 6'3 and I have 3 10's behind my seat and I only lose one click or so. I'm not stoked on the loss of legroom but . . it sounds sick. Check out the newer shallow mount subs, I'm sure you could build a box less than 7" deep.

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
The bazooka tubes are a joke. Lots of good 8's, but the real question is how much internal volume and depth can you get in a box? Before shopping you should measure what you can give up and pick a sub that is matched to the box size, you never know maybe something other than an 8 is your best choice.

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
3/4 MDF..could mabye do thiner to get a little more airspace since you dont need the thickness of 3/4..Get a good quality glue..I use titebond like $10 a bottle and i screw the boards together. The glue is what really holds it all together. I then seal with liquid nails. Never had a problem with a box coming apart and i was running 2 L7's and now have a 18" BTL..Good luck with the build.

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
Without knowing a box size it would be useless to pick a sub. For instance both of Nick's choices the L7's and BTL's require WAY too big of a box for you to fit even if they were in 8's. You really need to let us know how much space you will have otherwise it could really sound like crap.
A budget would be useful as well

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
I used 1/2" MDF when I built my old box for dual 8" RE subs. They didnt handle but 175wrms, and it is still holding up excellently. If the subs were any bigger I'd have used 3/4" MDF for sure.

Re: subs behind the seat but im 6'6"
here are the shallow mount subs. not the exact setup but i have a crew cab with 2 12's behind the rear seat with room to spare. i made my own sealed box i belive it was 1.5 cu ft. sounds mint nice and tight bass for rock the double kicks hit hard.
