Re: Subs foward firing?
I have one ten inch 1100w sony under my back seat firing forward and it sounds great. I don't think I would do it different next time. Just gotta make sure nothing gets too close so it touches. You definitely hear it when it does!

Re: Subs foward firing?
They will sound as good as the enclosure is that you put them in.

Re: Subs foward firing?
depends on the sub, the enclosure and what you are wanting to get out of the sub. if you are wanting deeper bass then i would probably go with downfire. plus you have to be careful with people kicking a sub that is forward fire or something rubbing up against it while it is playing.

Re: Subs foward firing?
The kicking isn't a problem if you put a grill on your sub.

I was gonna have 4 DD 1508's facing foward. I had subs downfiring and sounded like **** so to me this would be the only option for me.

What does the sound of poo entail? No low end, bad response...

You should've heard the earth-shattering bass that came about during my 10 o'clock poop. That was down-firing.

That is a box problem and get ready to have the same problem putting four under your seat as the amount of space you have will still be choking them.

I am not surprised by the sounded like crap, DD's have the tendency to be loud fart cannons but they should surely get loud and can play low but that is 100% enclosure dependent and much less so on the firing direction. I guarantee if you took your current downfiring box and played it firing forward you would lose even more lows (assuming you have enough clearance between the subs and the floor).

Re: Subs foward firing?
what do the 1508's require for space? You can get around .6cuft/sub if you lift the seat 2".

They work with 1 CF each sub. This is what I was thinking of

How in the heck are you going to get 4 cuft + port area + sub displacement area + mdf area underneath your seat???

I have to disagree on DD's sounding like fart cannons.

Re: Subs foward firing?
They must fit snugly right against the back of the driver and passenger seats to get 4cu ft out of under the seat and then some. Never do the minimum air space required for subs, always try and shoot for maximum. I have front firing ported, and I like it. Of course the enclosure was built to specs though. I dont have a grill for the L7 yet, but I do need to get one so I dont have to tell everyone to be careful.
I'm back! I'm sorry to say though that I dont primarily roll in a FSC anymore.

Oh come on, it is even their purpose. They are far from musical. Perhaps my definition of fart cannon isn't the same as yours though by fc I mean they are good at playing one note.

That was 4 cuft NET and under seat? Also, not enough port area for 4cuft either. 60sq inches minimum...
