Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
4 Gauge wiring fits perfectly into the channel along the radiator and routed in the exact factory positons.

Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
Cut the factory starter battery terminal, stripped the wire, slipped the new crimp end over the wire, used a broad chisel to crimp it against the ac compressor
and shrunk it down.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attac...d=1219893 251 Aw that alternator wire is kinda cute (snip the factory shroud at the very end and it slips right over 4 Gauge)http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attac...d=1219893 197 Wrap the alt wire with the loom from the factory junction wire and vwalla, stealth. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attac...d=1219893 197 That lone wire in the stinger terminal is for the MSD6AL, and the lower right, the bolt/stud protruding from the fender also has (red crimp cover) the factory body ground.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attac...d=1219893 197 |

Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
Noticed MUCH improved starting. Voltage @ battery with no load at idle reads 14.42 (forgot pre reading
). Throttle response improved (better power/grounding for msd?). Milage gains? Don't know yet. We're at 21 highway and shes (wife)listend, changed her driving style, and is up to 15.6 city. |

Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
Thanks, had local place called Auto Wheel and Rim and my buddy behind the counter didn't charge me any labor so only paid $60 for all the cable and the one crimp terminal.

Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
i want to do this as well..
right now i drilled the hole for the Negitive to the body the little 5" peice and put a 0/1 gauge wire there with a bolt about the size you have in your fender. and 1 question did you run a cable down to the frame at the back of the manifold where there is a bolt and a couple of ground wires? i am going to be doing 4 gauge everything. and did you fuse the alt to battery? ![]() '97 Sierra 1500 5.7 350. Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
No i did not run a cable down the frame at the BACK of the manifold, i ran mine to the front of the manifold.
As far as fusing the alt, I did not. The main reason i see mfgs fusing alts is so they don't get fried when some dummy hooks up jumper cables wrong. I've got a rock buggy that has had a similar wiring setup for a long time w/no fused alt and an alternator took a dump, it didn't cause a fire, just smoked the alt. All vehicles in my possession have a fire ext. in the pass. area anyway. |

Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
alright i think i am just going to run mine to the factory bolt on the frame at the back of the manifold. it seem like it would just be easier.
and i think im just going to get a fuse holder for the alt for $10 just to be safe and put a 140 or so amp fuse in there. good write up btw and nice pics ![]() ![]() '97 Sierra 1500 5.7 350. Re: 95 Tahoe 2dr BIG 3 Install
alright i see what you meant on the bolt in the frame in front of the manifold.
. i used the bolt i put in the fender.. but have a 0/1 gauge going to the bolt from the battery..and then put another 0/1 gauge on the bolt going down the the bolt where its holding a hose or something... btw did you notice anything upgrading the junction block wire? do you windows roll up faster... interior lights brighter? anything? ![]() '97 Sierra 1500 5.7 350.
