Bose system with extra sub Q
I have done all my own installs up to this time. With work sending me out of town by plane I figured I could leave the truck for install while I was away so they had all the time to do it correct.
So any way,I have the bose crap and wanted to add an amp and sub as step one of bose system replacement. So I took the shop an alpine MRPM1000 its 600x1 at 4 ohms and 1000x1 at 2 ohms.I told them where to mount it and to use 4ga or larger with a breaker and not a fuse under the hood. They said no problem and I left.I pick up the truck after hours friday past and the amp seems to have very low output. The amp has hi lev inputs that they did not use.I traced the rca lines to a point at the front of the center console where they go out of sight.I pulled the radio and there are no rca lines or a hi/low adapter. So my guess is they tied into the stock sub and used a hi/low adapter. Now i did look at the gain and even with it at max the output is no better.I know the bose will cut out the bass at hi volume but with a fair amount of amp power I should at least have some good output at low volumes.Any ideas as to the problem? I know some hi/lo adapters have gains on them and that could be the problem but other than that I have no idea.Any one here have an extra sub/amp with the bose? How is it sounding?

Re: Bose system with extra sub Q
From everything I read when I researched mine (mostly on a corvette forum) the factory signal from the Bose amp straight up blows. Best bet is to run the RCA's to a PAC AOEM GM 24 at the back of the Bose headunit before the factory amp. All equalization/frequency cutouts are made within the amp.

I've got the PAC adaptor, set at Mid-output running to a Rockford amp to 2 10's and it's pretty good for the money spent. Just the right amount to compliment the factory Bose. Sounds like they tapped in at the factory sub, which others have had poor output from.

Re: Bose system with extra sub Q
I just got a 2006 and I was wondering how to add my amp and sub to the factory bose also. But I think what you guys were saying might be a lil above my head. So where do i connect the RCA patch cables? Is there a output in the factory headunit?

No output for RCA lines on stock radio.I just got my PAC adapter listed in above post and have not had time to put it in.It mounts behind the radio and the patch cables plug in to the adapter.

10-4. I gotta see how my old single 12" box looks in my new truck. It was a behind the seat reg. cab box so i might be able to make it work under the back seat somewhere.
