Best Bang For The Buck 12" Shallow Sub
Like the title says, whats the best 12" shallow mount sub. Ill be putting them in my 98 rcsb. My buddy has 2 12" Kicker shallow 12's, which sound great but everyone has them, so what is the best 12" shallow mount sub for the money? I'll be wanting 2.

i think there was just a few threads on this a week or so ago, but you're pretty much looking at jl, memphis, or kicker

my brother has 2 JL 10's in his truck and i like the deeper bass they produce over kicker, but the shallow 12's from JL are like 180. Can I fit a normal sub beind my seats?

Re: Best Bang For The Buck 12" Shallow Sub
depends on how short you are i guess
mounted at the bottom of the box you should be able to fit 5-6" deep sub without losing to much leg room

I have one jl 13.5 shallow in my truck mounted in a box behind the passenger seat. No loss of leg room with a box that's .8 of airspace. Blows any other shallow mount away. You will not be disappointed. It's not cheap though so start saving your pennies.

Is it better sounding than 2 12's?
Edit: Just checked out a price, I'm not wanting to spend that much on a sub

Ive had the pioneer premiere shallow mount subs for almost 3 years now and i love em. Perfect size for right behind my seats and they sound great. You can get em on ebay pretty cheap.

Best is subjective and not at all a way to rate subs.
For output you are not really going to find anything that will compete with those Kickers those, for shallows they are really impressive.

I agree, the shallow mount kickers really pump and are a good price. I really like the deeper bass of the JL's, but they are more money.
Decisions, decisions

Re: Best Bang For The Buck 12" Shallow Sub
If you want to spend a day wood workin you can put regular subs behind it I have two twelves in my regular cab I just built a custom box and they fit great and sound loud as hell just put the amp under the seat and as far as legg room I have no loss cause being 6 foot 6 i need all the leg room its got. But if you decide to stay with shallow i would go sony

My brother has regular subs with a truck box behind his seat and the subs hit the back of his seat. Maybe ill consider making my own box because i will have no prolems doing that. Did ou just carpet it? or did you go all the way and fiberglass/bondo and all that good stuff

Re: Best Bang For The Buck 12" Shallow Sub
To tell you the truth, you ge what you pay for. I spent 400 on a 10" jl w6, and ****. Behind 800 amps it might be just the cleanest sounding sub I have ever heard. Sure, the kickers pound, but I will outfit all future trucks with jl in the future. The sound is just so clean, pure bass, its hard to explain. You can tell its not a cheap sub. When its turned up and the doors are shut, it isn't too loud outside of the truck. But with the doors open, it is fricken ridiculous. I've had people who swore I had 2 12's, and are shocked when I tell them I have only one 10". Best of luck though, I would def stop in at a local audio shop if only just to hear the kickers, pioneer, etc. And then order what u want from ebay!

meh, that is the box not the driver. The Kicker can play low.

Please stop with the "I LOVE JL" crap. The w6 is NOT a loud sub and doesn't "pound". Amusing since it is the only JL sub I'd run as I could give a rats ass about loud and the w6 was designed for ears like mine and not ones that want pound. You obviously haven't heard jack for setups. If you had you wouldn't have this holy my 10 is as loud as 2 12's...not even close.
Oh and the Kickers you are bashing will be WAY louder.
