Dayton HO enclosure ?s
I finally have a free weekend and I will have the time to build a box for my new pair of 10” Dayton HOs. It will be a sealed, downfire box under the rear seat of a 00 1500 ext cab and I have a few questions. I apologize if my questions have been answered in previous posts but I wasn’t able to find answers to all of my questions while searching.

PE is listing .4 cu. Ft for a sealed box.

Is that before or after driver displacement?

What is the displacement of the 10” HO?

Should I build a box for each driver or should they share the same space?

What can I expect if I explore a bit larger or smaller than .4?

Thanks for any advice you can give me. This will be the first box I do where I try to build it for a specific driver. Crazy isn’t it!!!!

Thanks again

Shawn

Re: Dayton HO enclosure ?s
build sepaerate chambers...from what I've read everywhere else about these subs is that they sound great but like a little more than the 0.4cf listed...most I have seen have gone with 0.6 - 0.7 before displacement and said they rock

I personally prefer a single enclosure; however, it is definitely easier to eff things up if you go that route. If you guess around .1cuft for the sub it should be close enough...your biggest concern will be how much clearance from the floor you can get, more is better. Up to .7 is fine, but with less power the closer you are to RMS the smaller the enclosure but I'd do at least .5cuft.

Thanks ///M5. I was hoping you would chime in.

I went with the single enclosure and ended up with 1.3 total volume before dislacement. That gives me about .55 per sub after displacement. I was able to get 2 3/4" of space between the subs and the floor. The ZX 1000.1 I ordered was delivered today so with any luck, I will have it up and running tonight after work.

I'd like a bit more space between the floor, but you should be okay. If necessary you can always actually put some feet on the box to raise it in the front and the seat will just ride on the box then. The space sounds great though and I am sure that is going to sound sweet!!

Re: Dayton HO enclosure ?s
I agree with Sean on the floor spacing, and definitely agree on liking the space! I've been running a single ported 10" HO in about .66ft^3 the Tahoe for a while (tuned a bit high at 32ish), and it's really quite impressive. Have fun with the twins!

I had the same sub in a downfire enclosure in a center console setup before the current box, but did not work well, due to only having a bit over 2" clearance to the floor... The sub would actually touch carpet, not just muffle output. (granted it's plushy carpet on the hump there)

How is that possible? 2" clearance, 12mm xmax...

It's not possible, 12mm of one way xmax translates to 1/2".

So if the enclosure bottom is elevated off the floor 2" and the subwoofer is mounted to the bottom, depending on the frame thickness, there would still bea good 1- 1 1/2" of clearance.
