Removing Bose crap!
Is it possible.... to remove the Bose crap and still use the stock wiring?

My setup currently consists of a JVC AV810 Head unit with the stock bose speakers/amp.

What I would like to do is get rid of the bose amp and speakers, replace them with a good set of components yet still using the stock wiring while also using a 2 channel amp to push the components. Can the wiring harness where the bose amp be bypassed yet still use the stock wiring? Or would I be better off to just run new wiring from a new 2 channel amp?

I know I would at least have to run a set of RCA's from the head unit, but would like to stay away from having to re-run all new speaker wire to the doors.

You would be better off running new speaker wire to the doors. It's not as difficult as it seems, at least, it wasn't in my '95.

Absolutely. I would run new wire. You're going to have the panels off to install the speakers anyway...you're only snaking one wire through each door versus trying to patch in either at the console, or behind the deck into the factory wiring. Should be much cleaner in the long run.

In particular since you won't be putting your amp where the current bose amp is that is much easier. Our trucks are really easy to add new wire in :)

Along the same lines of this post:
What size/guage wire would be best to rewire the door speakers?

16 gauge should work in most cases, that's what I'm using for my components.

X2 anything over 16 AWG would just be overkill for most situations

yeah I would say just run 16 AWG directly from the amp to the speakers and you should be fine

16 gauge wire is fine for components and coaxial/triaxial speakers. 12 guage is preferred only for subwoofers.

Re: Removing Bose crap!
Anyone attempted to add an 8" sub where the existing bose sub is located in the center console? Wondering if this would be a better option to have a box built for under the console using an 8" rather than under neath the rear seat in my crew cab...
