Re: 67-72 or 73-87

well 67-72 are more valueable but as it gets older it gets harder to find parts. 73-87 great trucks too i have 2 of them and love them to death. both trucks will need rust replacement. but if you dont mind that. its all really what you want

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

the 67-72 is my favorite truck of all time, but like he said, they are a bit too expensive for me.

i love my 79 and wouldnt trade it for anything, for sentimental reasons, i love that bodystyle too, but if i had to choose, body to body, the 67-72 wins out.

very beautiful truck i had a 77 c10 a few years back and i just purchased my 06 a year ago and i cant help but to miss the old trucks more gas but cheaper to fix, easy to work on, and they are build like like a rock, my was pretty rusted and i done the unforgiveable and sold to take my dad's old ford over at he time i though it was a good idea, but i was youg and dumb, i am planning to get another hopfully sooner than later but cant decide which to buy, both kick a double s thanks for the pics.

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

This one comes down to personal preference.

For me, the lines on any 67-72 look far better than the next gen trucks.

Regarding parts for 67-72 trucks being hard to find, these days you can buy any piece of sheet metal from the reproduction market. They quality is getting better and better and soon enough you will be able to buy a complete cab new in the crate (just like the currently available 69 Camaro shell and 57 Chevys).

67-72 for me. Maybe it shows our age Joe. Anyway, I agree with the comment on the lines. Probably the best looking one to date. Parts everywhere for those things.

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

Forgot to mention, regarding parts availability on the 67-72 trucks.

Stacy David proved just how many parts are available with Copperhead. He started with only a bare frame, a bare cab and a title to build this badass ride

COPPERHEAD

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

well i also dont look for parts to often. so im really not sure how many parts are available i just know when i owned a 70 a few years back it was very hard to find parts for it. atleast out where i live because either they were all rusty or they just wanted too much money for them

Alot of parts now in the aftermarket and in most cases better than OE and more up to speed with todays tech.

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

I'm partial to the '73-'87 body, especially the '83-'87. My dad has always owned a square body dually since before I was born, so I grew up with them. His current truck, an '88 CC dually, will be mine.

There's nothing at all wrong with the '67-'72s in my mind by any means. I'm just partial to the square bodys.

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

I like the 73-87 best. They are a little cheaper to build. IMOP they have the best body lines of all the chevies.

and like the 50s truck cab now from classic industries. but you can buy almost any make and year in fiberglass, bumper to bumper.

well i think square bodies are the nicest looking. lowered or lifted. ive never understood what the big deal is with the 67-72s. just doesnt do it for me.

GM refers to the 73-87s as "the rounded line." IMO this is because when you look at the truck, its like a brick, but when you really pay attention to the body lines, it has lots of curves and few straight lines.

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

Personally i love the 87 year models. last year for that nice boxy body, first year for that new fuel injected engine. Plus the drive trains in these trucks are insanely tough. mine was never sposed to pull more than 6,000lbs but my aunt routinely pulled 8 to 9000 for miles.

Re: 67-72 or 73-87

i like the 67-72 trucks they are the best and easy to work on. they set lower then the later trucks i know because i have a 79 on the road right now. parts ? no problem if you have a phone and credit card.

right now i am working on a c20 with a 305 stroked to 331. 4 speed 3.56 posi rear. long bed stepside. it is going tobe a work truck for my farm. then for just getting around back and forth to work a 72 short bed stepside with a 85 z28 305. 4speed 308 posi rear.
for real work i have my 69 short bed cst 396 4 speed. i have a few more short beds around to play with also a 38,39 and a 46.
