got my 454!
Ok so I finally got a 454 to put in my 88 K5. It will be carbed so what all do I need to do as far as wiring and sensors go? Any other little quirks that I need to know about the transplant would be helpful too. I don't want any stupid crap that only happens in my truck haha. Appreciate y'all!

Re: got my 454!
put some real heads on the tbi 454 motor. vortec 454 heads would wake it up.

Trust me injection aint as hard as it looks especially if you do like I did and run a basic marine setup
Instead of f'ing with jets and power valves I open my laptop and tune it.
Just my 2 cents

Re: got my 454!
Just curious for any updates on your swap. I'm thinking about swapping my 4.3L V6 out for a carbed 454 i found. Just wondering if you got it in, how everything fit, you know, advice like that.

Go for it! I ran an Edelbrock dual quad setup on my Nova for a few years, and I liked it. They don't make quite as much power or torque as a single 4bbl or a tunnel ram, but they sure do get noticed when you pop the hood!

I's look at craigslist.com first, sometimes you can find a good-condition running 350 for dirt cheap there. Big block stuff is expensive, I damn near got a stroke when I found out that the intake I had on my 350 and I stole for $120 would cost me over $400 for my 429, and you can't really find one NOS or even used either! So keep that in mind... That said, I think a short stepper 2wd with a 500 from '70-71 would be just wicked And tis been done before, and tis been well documented as well.

i wanna do this to an 88-95, put a caddy clip and some taillights in it. COMPLETE caddy truck. had the parts to put a Pontiac 400/TH400 in my 82 C10, just had to drop it in and go. decided not to when i couldnt figure out how i was going to pull off the whole Pontiac look throughout the truck.
