Performance mod suggestions please
Ive got a 67 c10 with a 283. 4 spd with super-low 1st. I kind of want to make it quick, but I dont think it has the steering/suspension to handle it, to sloshy. What are you guys doing to yours?

If your truck is 'too sloshy' start with a suspension rebuild. Check out www.earlyclassic.com for a nice static drop kit

If you still have the 6 lug drum brake setup all around, look at the 2/4 drop kit and rear panhard bar kit.

to make it "quick"? ditch the SM420 in favor of a traditional Muncie 4 speed. the gear spacing on the SM420 is screwed up, and there is no other option other than stock when it comes to shifters. there are a number of shifters available for the Muncie.

Ditto on dumping the old 4 speed. Installing dual exhaust and bumping up the carb jets a couple thousands helped mine. Make sure the heat riser is working properly, they have a habit of jumping past the pin. RW

There will be offroad guys standing in line to buy that granny 4sp. Yeah, swap out the manual for a traditional 4sp. Oh, and with a little cash, that 283 will make one screamin' 301. Some good fun to be had there with that set up. Look at rearend options too. Sounds like suspension upgrades are priority.
