Some pics of xmember:

Waiting....

Slow day at work, so I got the tranny xmember back up, fits good, threw a little spray can on it...
Got the rails/injectors on, my other few parts should have been here today...
Had to pick up the kids today, so I'm at home, maybe my wife will make it home at a decent hour and I can get a few more things done.

which is 8 bucks - 16mm o-ring fitting that screws into the filter like it should.. now what kind of fuel filter is that and why is there 2 lines going into it?? and one going out?
i thought one line goes to the fuel filter, then to the fuel rail, then the smaller return goes right back to the tank, and the 3rd fitting on the sending unit is the vent to the charcoal canister which goes to the air pump i believe on the 5.3 and 6.0.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
an lines are fine...you gotta "hold your mouth right" when you tighten them...:) I've done a few and not had a problem...besides a compression fitting not tight enough.
What you see id the vette filter/regulator...2 lines going in, one fuel feed, one is return, the single line is out to fuel rails.
Three tubes on sending unit, feed, return and vent (rubber hose)
Ps, there are no threaded fittings on that filter, just quick disconnects...

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
so since you are looping off your return line, does that mean your fuel rail only has one fuel fitting, which is the inlet? thats what it kinda looks like... i wonder how that works... i know on the mustangs with "returnless" fuel setups, the fuel pump gets different voltages - speeding up and slowing down the pump.

this is the style i have and am running.. (for reference)

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
ya, I have the single line feed. I'm running a racetronix fuel pump harness with relay back there, went ahead and put metripack connectors on everything.
Voltage spiking should not be a problem.
If you look at the picture of the top of motor, see the fuel rail? I have a single (blue) quick disconnect fitting there.
That filter is also a regulator.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
update:
Got the wiring harness back from speartech the other day.
Spent all day working on some wiring, got most of the front end back on. Got the harness on the motor, most connectors plugged in.
Have to hook up the wires from the pcm, a little more wiring, get some fittings for tranny lines, and she'll be ready to crank.
A little bummed the thorley header did not fit drivers side, so I either just gotta wait for that to get corrected, or go a different route all together. Not sure what I want to do right now. If I had headers that fit, I'd still be working on the wiring, probably all night.
oh, and I still need to find something to work for intake tube...
Maybe one of those k&n or airraid cai kits?

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
nah, dont spend tons of money on a cold air intake. you can do a 3.5" 45* exhuast tube for the intake pipe, and www.intakehoses.com for the 4" to 3.5" 90* reducer. and then a 3.5 strait piece for the mass airflow to connect to and strap a 3.5" k&N on there... in out less than 100 bucks. what are you doing about your drivers side header?

say john, i've almost got all the a/c line stuff figured out, so it looks like a/c hoses wont be a big problem/deal for people with swaps.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
Drivers side header...
someone is trying to correct the problem right now, hopefully thorley will have the new piece soon.
Man, I spent all day yesterday and a couple hours today working on little things, I swear it looks like I have not done a thing.
As soon as the little nitpick things are done, I can start on the wiring and get that out of my hair! The wiring WILL be done within the next couple of weeks. I'm getting a little burned out right now. Might leave it alone for a couple of days.
Clint, I'll check that site out and hopefully get what I need.
thx

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
well, Jamie at doug thorley built the set I have, which is nw in production as ls swap header for 67-72 chevy trucks. The guys at the thorloey shop do not have a 73087 truck w/ ls motor to make the changes, so they "contracted" out another member on 67-72chevytrucks.com to fix the problem.
I talked to him on the phone last week, and he already started working on it, but the way the #3 tube is run, it's gonna be almost completely redone...which takes time doing it in his spare time.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
ya.
Another side note, the lokar column shift linkage is too short for 4l80e so it's going back. :) Was hoping to get that done today.
And the 36" tranny dipstick is too long! That's going back, guess I'll get the 24" one, that should mount on the firewall right behind/beside engine, or just get a stock one...

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
wow.. i have been looking to do a 6.0 swap on my 85.. read about it in super chevy mag and was hooked with the idea. I have found an entire low mileage motor for a grand... how much more do you think money wise i will be spending to get it in right? Until i saw your post i didnt even think about my rusted fuel lines and stock fuel pump. sheesh. I was hoping that I could plug in with the corvette heads and an msd controller and be done.. lol looks like thats not the case eh? ha! cant wait to see yours finished.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new 6.0
$ wise, my thinking is, get complete motor/accessories/pcm/harness/tranny(if you need it). Piecing front accessories can get expensive. Do your homework(read what others have done) then decide how you want to do it.
Be aware, the nickel and dime stuff adds up, keep that in mind.
I'm no expert, but reading this board and a few others gave me the knowledge and cajones to go ahead and do it.
I did not do anything today, left the truck alone, need a couple days off from working on it, plus my back is acting up again.
Give me some time to regroup and go down my checklist and check off things and add things I overlooked.
Keep organized! I wish I practice what I preach..I'm doing my swap and helping my paw-in-law with his 65 falcon 289/t5...tools and parts are everywhere!
