Question Exhaust
Hi guys,
I have an '87 V30 454 TH400 NP205 ....anyway I need a dual exhaust setup exiting before the rear wheels. The owner before took the CAT off and now all the Muff. shops won't touch it here in Hampton/N.N. Virginia. I tow a Boy Scout trialer every month and I need torque so I am going to need mufflers....Any help would help a lot.

Thanks,
Anthony

Re: Exhaust
thats crap, from what i understand which might be right and might not be, is that they cannot remove the cat, otherwise they get a 25K fine. so, if you brought your truck in with a new pair of headers, and you told them you wanted exhuast, what would they do? decline the work? they are not removing cats, you did... get what im saying... how many muffler shops have you gone to?

Re: Exhaust
Hi,
I have went to about 3 different shops. I guess if I wanted them PUT a cat on then I would be good to go but not doing MOD work on a truck with no CAT.... Pretty soon it'll be a SAW-ZALL and flex pipe

thanks,
Anthony

Anthony, do you have headers? If so you can order some "Headmann Hedders" S-pipes from SummitRacing, I used those and some straight pieces and then bolted the mufflers to that, this is how it turned out:

that'd be great, except he's got a 205 to go around, that's going to make things a little tougher.

the exhaust on my 92 is a stick of 3" pipe bolted directly to the Y pipe, with a muffler on the end, and a tailpipe stuffed in the back. completely straight shot past that.

Re: Exhaust
Hi guys,
Whoever had the truck before me took the CAT off. So I have the factory Y pipe going into the muffler, single out of muffler into an After CAT then dual out of that exiting in the stock location.

I plan on cutting the exhaust off at the end of the crew cab, put a 3" SI/DO 2 /1'2" pipe then put glasspacks on each run. Then route then out in front of each set of dually wheels. Hopefully this will still keep some back pressure....What do you guys think?

Thanks for all the replies,
Anthony

its a photoshop! lmao. wtf with the michigan deal?

anyway, i think the idea about hookin up the 3 inch pipe straight back with the muffler. quick simple easy. and then down the road theres always room for improvement.

no photoshop, the guy used to bring it over to my neighbors house all the time. it was in Fourwheeler (maybe Petersen's) back in like February (March or April issue), though that was before the stack through the hood.

the michigan thing is a joke, though there are alot of people in southern MI (i'm in extreme northern IN, the north end of the city i live in borders MI) who i question if their family trees fork at any point.

Why not just drop in a 3" SI/DO 2-1/2" muffler, then run just pipes from that? It will be cheaper that what you're thinking of, and will likely perform better.
