Re: 1991 K350?
Chevy made a crew cab short bed in a dually and a single wheel configuration in the late 90,s. I went and looked at them on the car lot. They made them to compete with the fords. I guess they didn't sell well so when they switched over to the 2001 body style they droped the short bed dually.

Re: 1991 K350?
shortbed crewcab, yes, in 3/4 ton. no 6.5" beds in 1 tons, no duallys in 3/4 ton, therefore, no shortbed duallys from the factory. GM DOES NOT HAVE A MODEL DESIGNATION FOR IT, THEY DID NOT EXIST OFF OF THE PRODUCTION LINE.

Re: 1991 K350?
Look like a 1997...
That truck is a 1997 or up, 94 had the new grille and old dash, 95 and 96 had new style dash but with cup holders on the right side and 97 and up 1/2tons had the right side air bag and the 3/4 and 1 tons had the cubby hole where the airbag would be. It looks like a decent truck, if you look at it see if there is any paper work on whether it is factory or an aftermarket company did the conversion.

Re: 1991 K350?
I've seen a few of them online before, and I think a member has one too. Although I don't believe the line about making a few for higher up employees, I think they might have made them 99-2000.....yes I understand GM doesn't have a model designation, but there are enough floating around for them to have all been made in someones backyard.

Re: 1991 K350?
You couldn't buy those at any gm dealer off the lot. The dealer had the the crew cab dually on the lot went and looked at them when they were new in 1999.

Re: 1991 K350?
Looks like they were made mostly for towing, with a cab big enough to haul a bunch of people and a short bed to make it easier the back a fifth wheel or camper trailer in to a tight spot and dually for a little more stability and load capacity. My friends brother has a super-duty ford set up the same way.

doesnt mean that they all have to be hack jobs, just that they have been modified, and were not available from the factory in that configuration.

Re: 1991 K350?
I'm pretty sure they made them in '99-'00 or something like that.
How is an LT1 Firehawk supposed to mess with us?? I think the fact that they were delivered by GM to SLP for modification before being sent to and sold by Pontiac dealerships would make most people consider them "factory". You could not drop off your own Firebird at SLP and have them make it a Firehawk after the fact...it had to be done by GM. |

Re: 1991 K350?
'99 and '00 they were available in short bed SRW versions, 2500 only.
the Firehawk can in fact be duplicated by purchasing the SLP parts, and installing them on your Firebird.

A Firehawk CLONE could be made by purchasing the parts from SLP, much the same way you can make a Camaro Z28 look like an SS or a Firebird look like a Trans Am, but if it was not sold new from the dealership as a Firehawk, SS, Trans Am, etc., it it will never really be one. You may be right about the SRW, not sure, just thought I remember seeing the DRW ones for sale around that time. Last edited by stroked94z : 09-14-2008 at 12:53 AM. |

Except GM did offer the SS and Firehawk and you are saying they never offered a CC SB DRW. There's a big difference between producing a clone of what the manufacturer offered and producing something entirely new/custom. ![]() |

Re: 1991 K350?
gm offered a camaro ss, and z28. they also offered a firebird, and a trans am in that generation. they did not offer a firehawk, that could only be bought as a kit from slp. you sent your car there, they sent you back your car as a firehawk. everyone should know not to argue with greasedog. im pretty positive he knows what hes talking about.
