AFAIK, SLP only built Firehawks for GM and not individual customers. GM shipped them directly to SLP for modification prior to being shipped out by GM to the dealers. They all carry a GM RPO code. And I'm not trying to argue with anybody. I said a few threads ago that I may be mistaken about the truck. This is a truck forum and apparently greasedog is the expert, however, I do know a few things about 4th generation f-bodies and didn't see how his comparison to a Firehawk pertained. It's a bit off topic now though...let's try to carry on with the original inquiry...if anyone still cares. |

Re: 1991 K350?
never messed with 4th gen F-Bodies really, and havent seen SPID codes for them. never saw one come into the shop to get the VIN to do some research on it. i'm more of a 3rd Gen guy myself. i was under the impression that it was more like the dealer editions floating around out there.

Re: 1991 K350?
Maybe if you saw one it was a south american truck. They had an avalanche type truck way back (60s-70s) and they even had an S-10 crew cab dually in the 80's down there.

Re: 1991 K350?
Greasedog you are wrong. Look up a 99 3500 on KBB.com, there is a Crew Cab Short Bed version.
They wouldn't list that as an option if GM didn't make it. They don't list 4 door broncos or 6 door pickups or crew cab 96 dodges. So why would they list a CCSB conversion for just GM? Besides I see tons of them around here, you can't tell me tons of people in ND are buying SB conversions. Last edited by AntiBling : 09-15-2008 at 02:06 AM. |

Re: 1991 K350?
I suppose that by Greasedogs (il)logic that an 87 Buick GNX isnt a factory car either since it was modified by McLaren. And the original Hurst/Olds werent factory since Hurst modified them. Or dozens of other cars and trucks that various manufacturers (including GM) have sold after being modified by other companies. Even though you can clone them it doesnt make the clones factory.
I have seen a pile of those CrewCab short beds. And even have saw them on the dealers lots with the other new trucks. Last edited by mybigwarwagon : 09-15-2008 at 03:11 AM. |

Re: 1991 K350?
I think what Greasedog is trying to say is THEY WERE NEVER MADE BY THE FACTORY, not that GM didn't send them out to get modified....I have no idea if they did or not, nor do I have the patience to go online and waiste time finding out. I have never personally seen one except the one I saw on craigslist. I have never even heard of a short-bed dually until I started this tread.
Lay off everyone, it was a simple inquiry, and there is no need to fly off the handle. If they made them, great, but I don't see them all over, so they were probably a very limited production, if they didn't, then maybe GM sent a few out to get converted to see if there was a market for them to start producing them....I have no idea....

Well, before you get to excited about there not being any made. I know where this is one sitting. I know its owner. It was bought by him new off the showroom floor. It is 100% GM and is not a conversion. 99-01 it was offered. Feel free to look it up anywhere. Go to car-parts.com, and you will find a listing for its frame. They were available right off the showroom floors all over down here. In fact, there was an article in peterson's 4wheel and off-road about their release. They were made, and there was a ton made. They are as common here, as the same body style regular cab 4x4 duallys. Now, I lived in PA for 3 years, and never saw a single one. I am assuming it might have been a regional release. There are alot of regional sales, and pricing stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Oh, the truck in question is 99-2001, given the year he put on it, probrably a 2001. ![]() 03 yukon xl - 5.3L/4l80E, 4.11/G80, djm 3/5 drop, escalade wheels, true duals with Cherrybomb Vortex, air raid jr intake 89 gmc siera 1500 sclb, 350/BUILT 700r4, 4x4, heavy half, 3.42/g80, stock except tranny (AKA - BIG BROWN) Last edited by cttandy : 09-15-2008 at 10:07 PM. |

Looks like a 6' bed with dually fenders slapped on it to me. Ditto on the 95-up. If that's a 91, then I'm hung like Peter North. Not a bad looking truck though (as long as you ditch the rims).
