Re: Door Speakers
mine are cut to hold 6x9's. they're screwed right into the steel at the moment but i'm gonna get some lower panels from summit (some day) and cut a hole in each of them to hold the speakers and clean things up a bit.

Re: Door Speakers
Even the trucks that don't go muddin will still get water (rain, etc) inside the door. Make sure you repaint anyplace you cut or scratch. a Pair of baffles will keep the speakers clean. You put the baffle in the hole first, then the speaker over/inside it then you're done.

Re: Door Speakers
Only pic i have but heres my 85 with 6.5 in the doors there pretty shallow and if you put them in the right spot= no cutting! You only have to cut the door panel( dont mind that bandpass box thats gone and my bench seat is back in )

proper positioning of the speakers will make you much more satisfied with the install. kick panels wont require any cutting at all.

Re: Door Speakers
those baffles got some pretty bad reviews. as for the kick panels, i've looked for them without the speakers included and can't find them anywhere. LMC has them with speakers included but idk about the quality of speakers and they're pretty expensive.

IIRC Chris Lucas (aka CaptKaos), the guy that runs that site had a hand in their production. Chris wouldnt put it on his website if it wasnt a good product.

Re: Door Speakers
also, for installing 6 x 9s behind the seat, get ahold of a set of factory cab corner speaker brackets, for 4 x 10 speakers. if you swap them side for side (PS on DS, DS on PS) you can clearance them enough to make a 6 x 9 fit.
