What do you think of the battery mounting?
Its kinda cool, not sure if that battery can be mounted in any position such as a Optima. The problem I see is that he shaved his dash to make it clean, then shoved this big battery in there.
I think it would look cleaner if he would put the battery horizontilly not vertically and a little lower on the firewall.

To be PC, he actually shaved his firwall. but I'm with you, I dont think that you can mount it like that. It is cool. But the position and body work are both off.

yeah I had respect for that truck since I though the onwer was doing it up himself but instead a shop has been doing all the work. If you look at his profile on SSM it says "built not bought you kids wouldn't understand" which left me wondering what that really means, hes saying not to buy something built but rather spend tons of money to have a shop build it? Whats the difference?

I also question how long the battery will last sitting right above the exhaust manifold. Hmmm? Excessive heat, and battery life? I don't think those go together...

The differance is your not buying someone elses truck.

All I'm saying is don't dog on people for buying customized vehicles if your just going to go and get a shop to do all the work. Pretty much the same thing imo.

This pisses me off more than anything. Not everyone that gets a shop to do the work have mommy and daddy pay. I know alot of guys that have had shops do things and paid them selves so stop talking out your ass.

Must have, because haveing something built the way you want/ or building it yourself is alot differant than buying something prebuilt. I'd never buy a finished truck(I doubt I'd buy one that was started), but I got no problem letting a shop do things as I can afford it. I never said that everyone who decides to put thier truck in a shop uses thier parents money. I said that this guy is bragging that his truck is "built not bought" and went and brought it to a shop, they did a way too big bodydrop and he thinks hes king pimp. I never said that it was cool or hip to buy truck that are already built, I just said that don't ***** about people buying trucks when your just going to get a shop to do all the work. I just don't see much of a difference because 90% of the trucks out there now are exactly the same. So if you bought one of 1/2 the price of what it would cost you to build it then more power to you. Theres not much difference if you buy a truck that some had got a shop to bag opposed to you buying the same truck and having a shop bag it. I can see if you wanted the experience and enjoyed hacking away at vehicles like I do then its competely different. I'm just stating my opinion, so relax.

To me the diferance is if you buy someones truck that's already built, it will still always be thiers, unless you tear it down and start over. It's worse if it's a well known truck, or even just a localy know truck. Yeah the "built not bought" saying should only be used if you do it yourself, but howmany people truely do 100% of the work themselves? I've heard countless people brag that they built thier trucks, than you find out that someone else painted it or did the interior or built the engine.Don't get me wrong, I give nothing but respect to the guys that do everything on thier own, but I give just as much respect to the guy that does a little here and there and has someone do what he can't.

point taken. Its just the bragging about building not buying when you never built anything annoys me. I honestly don't care about people sending their trucks to shops or not. One day hopefully that will keep me working, when I'm confident and more knowlegable.
I'm a huge fan of the rat rod doing your own stuff kinda thing but alot of people don't have the skills. Thats understandable, I'm currently taking a welding class and theres this one kid who couldn't weld 2 piece of metal together to save his life.
But bragging about work you never did is just plain wrong.

I think you guys are missing something here. It really doesn't matter if you build it all yourself, have it built by a shop, or buy it from someone already done. I think what really matters is the attitude of the owner, thinking it is better because it is one of the above and not the other. Does that make sense?

I could care less if someone is lucky enough to have rich parents to buy, or build a truck. I think it's great if you have the skills and time to do it yourself. I also appreciate top quality vehicles built by skilled craftsmen.

What I can't stand is someone's arrogant attitude toward anything that is of lessor quality than what they have. Or the people that slam another truck just because it's bought, not built.

The point is, everyone should give respect to another dude's ride if it deserves it. That same respect should be passed on to the owner, regardless of how they got a nice ride, if they deserve it...

that maybe your opinion but personally I really don't respect a truck that a person didn't even buy, do anywork on or even put some money into it. If its all just given to you then its not what I think customizing vehicles is about. I think too much emphazis is put on making a truck look the best of the best nowadays and I personally think its about the friends you make and the people who help you along your way to making your "perfect truck". So someone doing it just so he can look cool at shows is missing the point imo. I think its cool to have those trucks out there, something to strive for but I don't respect them. my .02
