72 body on 87?

I have a 1987 with a 454 that is four wheel drive. Mechanically the truck is in good shape but the body is rough long dents and fender well rust. I found a 72 chevy that is in perfect condition has anybody swapped one of these bodys over? worst case secnario would I have to build some new mounts? Thanks for any help

Definitely doable! Even if you have to do new mounts, thru a body lift kit for the '72 possibly? I've seen a '55 on a 98 frame and also on the S-10 frames.

finally got a chance to throw a tape on a 71 the axle to axle length on the 87 was almost 5 inches longer than the 71 probably just going to swap in the 87 axles. I am considering putting a duramax in this one wondering if anybody has tried it?,or if you have heard of someone I cant find a whole lot out there as far as duramax conversion.

Definately doable, my 51 is on a 75 frame.

well ran out today to get some measurements and the truck was an auto so the 4 speed wont fit in that tunnel. I have talked to some guys about the dura max swap ive been told it is a pain in the a$$ and expensive might look another route and put a 4bt in there
