Oh yeah, you've probably heard the saying that "if the VIN still matches, you ain't working your truck hard enough"

Is that not a question? (Yes, the asking of questions is encouraged around here, as many of them actually bring about good information, or at least comical value.)

Re: Finally got some American Steel

Howssit people ?
My First question is going to be can someone give us any contact details of a Company that sells and ships 292ci Intake Manifolds?
(Scarce as rocking horse poo down here)

The one I have has been machined a little bit to much. Ive had to use spacers on the last studs to try and pull them both down the same pressure.

2nd question is can someone recommend a method of getting more speed per rev as it at the moment is 90k's (56mph) @ 3000 rpm !

3rd can anybody tell me what they would think would be the miles per gallon ?

Thank you

1) I don't know much about the inline six engines other than they're tough as nails. You might find some speed parts here:
http://www.cliffordperformance.net/M...gory_Code=C250

2) You've probably got a 3spd auto, so that's why you're running high RPM's down the highway. Not sure what your gearing is, but that will play a role as well. You could put in more highway friendly gears like 2.73 or 3.08, but that would be gay. You could do a couple of different things...go to a 5 speed trans with an OD, go to an automatic with an OD or get one of those Gear Vendors over drives.

3) I had to Google to make sure an Imperial Mile was the same as a US Mile. I'm not the brightest bulb. Ha ha ha. Anyway, I would expect around 12 mpg.

Re: Finally got some American Steel

Gday again, Nah dont have an auto or three speed I do have four forward gears and 1st is extremely low ratio, a crawler gear, if you will.
I think that I will wait to see if there is a 4 speed box with maybe highway gearing or something, still not real sure !

Not real interested in going the 'Performance' way I so wanna try and keep her as original as poss and as basic coz I am the only one in this here town that wants to work on her.

All the so called mechanics here cant work on a vehicle that doesnt plug into a computer to be tuned !!! NOT LOL

AND Im no mechanic... (I have a tendency to break things)
But Im so proud of myself because she motors powerful and smooth
and after a quick calc it seems Ive got her to 5.4k's per Litre which works out to be surprisingly 12 MPG (American)...
Country driving...

As with most towns downunder all predominately Tojo's, Holden, Ford...BUT I own a Chevrolet HAH
Aint too many that can claim that around here.

Re: Finally got some American Steel

sounds like you got the muncie 4 speed like me it's technically a 3 speed with a granny low, probably 3.73 gears in the rear.
